Attorney to Seek Court Stay of Official School Merger

Batavia attorney Harold D. Nichols said an injunction suit will be filed to block consolidation of Amelia Williamsville-Tobasco and Glen Este-Mt. Carmel districts. He cites irregularities in the process and questions over district inclusion and ballot actions. The move aims to test the law before July school plans proceed, with no court decisions yet. Michael J. Lewis, 16, of Bethel, injured in a separate Pike incident when his vehicle struck a curb and caused head injuries.

Two Injured In U S 68 Accident Near Georgetown

Two people were hurt in a U S 68 crash eight miles north of Georgetown. Clifford Barnett 18 of Detroit was driving a car that ran off the left side while passing another vehicle. Passenger Gladys Taylor 22 of Bethel received treatment and was released from Brown County Hospital. Barnett remained hospitalized with a concussion. Barnett was visiting relatives in Bethel. Farmer Crushed Beneath Tractor Fatal Farm Incident

Forest Sutton 65 of Goshen Belfast Road died last Thursday after a tractor and combine toppled onto him on his farm. His wife found him missing and alerted authorities when he did not return home in the evening.

Clermont County will rename central offices from Loveland to Normandy New Richmond to Riverside Newtonsville to Regent Williamsburg to Saratoga and Batavia numbers to Ulysses to fit Direct Distance Dialing.
