Inferred Election Misconduct Disproved by County Board

The Clermont County Board of Elections states it found no misconduct by precinct officials in the Glen Este Mt Carmel bond election held Dec 13. One elector tampered with a precinct flag and several voters erred by voting in the wrong precinct, with misstatements not caused by the board.

Welfare Children To Receive Gifts Across Clermont County

Miss Frances Reese of the Welfare Department says gifts are ready for 127 needy children in foster homes. Dozens of donors from local clubs churches and schools contributed to the Christmas drive with sorting and wrapping led by Edith Smith Mabel Dawson Karen Chaffin Darlene Gregg and Mary Ann Remley. Kunz Firm Wins Route 4 Contract for Mt Carmel Hill

Thé Walt Kunz Company of Mt. Washington won the Route 74 project in Anderson and Union townships Clermont and Hamilton Counties. Bid totaled 363049.98 with an estimated cost of 421500. Work includes grading draining paving and constructing a reinforced concrete retaining wall. Completion date set for September 30 1956.

Commissioners May Meet More Times Weekly

Clermont County commissioners consider four or five meetings weekly due to growing workload. Auditor Earle B. Kincaid cannot attend more than two, possibly prompting hiring of secretarial help. Sheriff race: Sam Skinner seeks 1956 Republican nomination against incumbent Dericks, with Fred Holt running as Democrat. Petitions due February 8.

Social Security Visits Increase at Clermont County Court

Miss Louise E. Nuxol, social security field rep, will hold sessions in Batavia Court House conference room from 9 a.m. to noon starting Dec 27 and every Tuesday thereafter to process claims. Clermont County residents receiving benefits total 2422 and $119,831 monthly. Raymond R. Black announces candidacy for Clermont County commissioner in 1956 Democratic primary.

Three Injured In Auto Crash West Of Batavia

At about 2 30 a m Wednesday three people were hurt in a two car crash on State Route 74 five miles west of Batavia near Jacksons Fishing Lake. Fred W Bienke 23 of Route 1 Newtown lost control on a curve and struck Colen T Rhoades 42 of Batavia head on. Bienke had mouth lacerations and chipped front teeth. Jerry Hall 16 of 2709 Mt Carmel Tabasco Road was a passenger in Bienkes car.

Death ruled as self-inflicted car submersion

William Sneed of Beth el aged 26 was found Sunday in a car on Crane School House Road with a hose running from the tail pipe. The death was ruled a death by own action after Dr A A Gruber of Bethel examined the body. Sheriff C B Dericks said the car had been taken from its parking place Saturday night at Club 74 Mt Carmel. Surviving is his wife and one child.

Loveland Leads With United Appeal First Successful Campaign

Loveland reports a record United Appeal collection of 2688 dollars with 708 to Cincinnati United Appeal 880 to Clermont Red Cross 600 to Clermont Boy Scouts and 500 to Salvation Army. The drive united local groups under the Cincinnati Community Chest framework and earned a village award for coordinated fundraising led by Stan Brock and volunteers.

First annual Clermont County Heroism Award urged

Countians are reminded to submit entries for the first annual 1955 Clermont County Association of Insurance Agents Heroism Award. The award honors a Clermont County resident for an outstanding act of heroism during 1955. Nominations include details and should be sent to The Courier or any association member.
