Commissioners Approve Road Changes and Bond for Sheriff
At a county session the board approved changes to the Dean Shepherdson route and authorized the alteration as requested. The Thulman petition to shift a Stonelick to Craver area was denied for irregularity, and Leming’s petition was rejected for non-conformity. Franklin township trustees were authorized to change a road from Mrs. Brophy’s residence to the old road, and from Gropenbacher lands to the old road terminus. Sheriff-elect Edward W. Buvinger posted a $10,000 bond, approved for faithful duty. Next meeting set for Monday January 3, 1898.

Death of an Old Soldier Samuel Lindsey Dies in Milwaukee
Samuel Fitch Lindsey, a former county resident living on the Union turnpike near Joliet, died December 11 at the Soldiers Home in Milwaukee. Born in Ripley Ohio in 1848, he enlisted at age 15 in the 2d Ohio Heavy Artillery and was a prisoner at Andersonville. He leaves four brothers in Chicago Cincinnati and Joliet and is remembered by many in the area.
