County Health Dept Extends Work Week In Clermont
The Clermont County board of health votes to add five and a half hours to the weekly schedule starting January 3, with offices in the courthouse open 8 30 a m to 4 15 p m daily except Saturday noon close. The change aims to improve service and align hours with neighboring departments while staff accept wage reductions up to 17 percent.

Burglary Hits Local Legion Post and Laura's Grocery
The county sheriff investigates two break ins. At the American Legion post a rear window was broken Friday and a jukebox cash was taken. It is the post’s sixth burglary in three months. Laura's Grocery on Rt. 133 between Bethel and Felicity saw a front door glass entry with coins from vending machines and items including pens pencils pipes groceries candy and oranges stolen for the Bethel Christmas party.

County Misses 75 Percent Grant for Sewer Plan in Clermont
Clermont County may receive half the $7.8 million sewer project as a federal grant. The Area Redevelopment Administration outlined that only areas with low income and high unemployment qualify for 75 percent aid. Clermont shows higher income and 15.3 percent jobless, below the threshold. Ohio could obtain up to 10 percent of $28 million set aside for state projects, with 120 days to award a contract and a one year project completion. Rep. Harsha and Pett discussed the East Fork Reservoir feasibility, with Harsha reporting no word yet.

Irvin Named Burg Executive In Williamsburg School District
Norman Irvin, Williamsburg High School principal since July 1960, was appointed executive head of the Williamsburg school district by a unanimous board vote. The selection, effective January 1, 1963, follows Robert Goforth’s resignation to head Forest Hills district. Irvin, with degrees from Xavier University and coursework at West Virginia, will serve the remainder of Goforth’s term through August 1964 at a $10,000 salary. Additionally, Eleanor Piffer was hired as school dietitian, replacing Denise Malott, with Mildred Maham to replace Piffer in the cafeteria.
