Bathavia area marks set roads by business group

Louis H Moore and Vic Carter display a new sign at Bauer Road and State Route 32. The Batavia Business Men's Association installed ten road markers this week across Elmwood Apple Brunk Greenbriar Ze gar Union Chapel Baumann Benton and Elton Roads to honor residents and guide drivers. Moore serves as township trustee and as a committee member for the project.

Auto Fatalities Rise Sharply in Clermont County

The accident rate in Clermont County climbed over 16 percent this year. Ohio Department of Transportation statistics show 971 accidents in the first nine months of 1962, up from 831 in the same period of 1961.

Guest Speaker Dr Morten Addresses West Clermont on Math Teaching

Dr Robert Morten emeritus Ohio University and author spoke to West Clermont elementary faculty on December 12 about modern mathematics. He argued telling is not teaching and encouraged varied methods to spur discovery, noting no proof of a fixed mental make up for math success and acknowledging emotional blocks. His visit is part of nine in service programs to strengthen arithmetic teaching districtwide.

Fitness for Fun class opens at Amelia High School

A male adult class titled Fitness for Fun starts January 28 at Amelia High School with activities chosen by participants. Minimum ten registrants required. district residents pay 12 dollars and non residents 18 dollars. Class meets Wednesday evenings in the school gym under a trained instructor. Birth Control Clinic To Serve 3 Local Areas

A Birth Control Clinic of the Planned Parenthood Association of Cincinnati will open at Mt. Moriah Community Methodist Church on Jan. 28 with 6:30 to 8 p.m. hours each Monday. It serves Clermont and Anderson townships in Hamilton County and parts of Brown County, joining five other locations in Cincinnati. Local civic leaders, including Mrs. Frederic Knoop and others, helped organize the new clinic along with church and hospital partners.

Clermont County Cancer Unit names education leader

Mrs. Ettamaye FE Jones Ward's Corner Road Loveland has been named public education chairman of the Clermont County Unit of the American Cancer Society. Her first program will be in Loveland on January 16, co sponsored by five area Parent-Teacher Associations. Presidents Mrs. Marge Spidle Mrs. Helen Hallop Mrs. Donna Rourke Mrs. June McEwan and Mrs. Margaret Ford will serve as co chairs. Educational films Time and Two Women and Breast Self Examination will be shown with notes on the American Cancer Society and local unit goals. Three sessions are planned.

Two area residents have been promoted in faculty rank at UC effective Sept. 1, 1963. Eleanor M. Behrmann of Turpin Hills near Newtown moves from instructor to assistant professor, and Bryce E. Adkins of Clough Heights moves from assistant professor to associate professor.

All-day cancer education conference for women

An all-day cancer education conference for women runs at 10 30 am 2 30 pm and 8 pm at the American Legion Hall. Area women are urged to attend one session.
