Heavy Draft Toll To Hit Clermont In New Year
Ninety Clermont County youths can expect Uncle Sam greetings next month the Selective Service Board in Batavia released figures. Pre induction examinations are set for 65 men January 21 and 29 others January 24. The Marine Corps will tap the draft barrel heavily in January with 12 to report January 4 and 25 more January 29. Miss Muriel Erion a former Batavia resident wins in The Instructor travel contest. Her story Adventure in International Good Will reflects a Europe trip last summer. She wrote for the Clermont Courier while abroad and now teaches commercial subjects at the Farm Bureau Secretarial Training School in Columbus.

Batavia Churches Dedicate Chimes At Sunday Service
Rosa Wolf funded organ chimes for Batavia churches after death in August, aiding the Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist congregations. Forrest Ely presented the chimes at the EUB dedication with Carl Johnson of the Cincinnati Symphony recitals. The Wolf gift included extra speaker systems so villagers could hear the music. Miss Bess Walker played a meditation during the ceremony.

Insurance Man Dies After Christmas Dinner in Milford
S. S. Gatch, 86, Milford Home Building Company president and longtime insurance executive, died of a heart ailment after Christmas dinner with his family. Services set for Milford’s Monroe funeral home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. He was a Hanover College graduate, school board president, and Sigma Chi member. survived by son F. S. Gatch, sister Emma Gatch, daughter Ellen Garland, and a grandson.
