The new Combs-Hehl Bridge along I-275 creates a visible landmark for Clermont County residents as traffic heads south into Kentucky on the western span. Opening of the structure marks a key infrastructure milestone for the area.
Bernice Burns, longtime township clerk, is reelected and will work with son Gary Burns 27 as a new trustee. Gary resigned as a captain on the Monroe Life Squad after his election and is a paramedic. he and wife Jan have two children Jeff and Jill. Bernice has two other sons Bruce and Josh, plus Justin.
Clermont Newspapers invites residents to enter the 83rd First Baby of the Year contest. The earliest birth in the new year wins gifts from area merchants. Entries require birth details, parent and grandparent names, and residency of Clermont for at least one month. Daniel Verner Jones, Amelia, was last year's winner.
Governor James A. Rhodes announced a grant totaling $14,451 to Clermont County to continue funding a youth outreach program. The award supports local services and activities aimed at at risk youths and community engagement.

USEPA officials met with Ohio EPA counterparts and local residents at Marr Elementary School to review the O Bannon Creek and Nine Mile sewerage projects. The agency expects a six month reanalysis and cites rising costs from 11 million to 24 million dollars, not including house connections, to serve 3510 users in Goshen and parts of Miami townships.
A 12 million shopping center on 20 acres was approved on the north side of Old SR 74, 700 feet west of the Old SR 74 and Rumpke Road intersection. The planning commission had previously reviewed a rezoning to B-7 just west of this site with reservations, urging safety access on Old SR 74.
