O Bannon sewer plan meeting slated for Goshen area

A public meeting on December 19 at 8 p m at Marr Primary School Goshen Road Goshen Township addresses the health and environmental problems from the local sewer system. The session is sponsored by the United States group seeking input on the best sewer solution for the O Bannon area.

Clermont County Treasurer Falls Ill After Heart Attack

Albert E. Bud Hines 61 treasurer of Clermont County since 1974 is in Bethesda North Hospital ICU after a heart attack. The Democrat from Goshen suffered the attack in the county courthouse treasurer’s office and drove himself to the hospital. his condition was reported stabilized on Monday by his sister-in-law Edna Hines, who works in Juvenile Court.

New Richmond officials announce resignations and hires

New Richmond School Superintendent Richard McKinniss resigns effective July 31 after serving since September 1977. Board of Education accepted his resignation December 10. Logan Combs, 35, named community development director, starts December 17. he and his wife Pamela plan to move from Cincinnati next summer. Former planning director Joan Hull resigned September 1.

Candlelight Service and Christmas Program at Central Baptist

Williamsburg residents are invited to a candlelight Christmas Eve service at Central Baptist Church on Bantam Road Dec 24 at 1130 PM. A Christmas program by children and youth will precede it on Dec 23 at 730 PM. Batavia High senior Eugene Johnson named UPI Class A Ohio football Lineman of Year. Jim Truske also named to Class A all state. Johnson 6'1" 230 lbs. coach Frank Montgomery helped Batavia win the CCL title.

First Baby Contest Opens in Clermont County

Clermont Newspapers sponsors the First Baby of the Year contest with gifts from area merchants. Entries must be residents of Clermont County for at least one month and births reported to the Clermont office by January 9. Information required includes birth time place physician name and address baby name sex weight and parents names. The contest remains open if no births are reported by the deadline.

Clermont water rates rise for 17,000 users starting March

Clermont County commissioners voted 2 to 1 on December 13 to raise the county water rate, effective with bills mailed in March, covering about 17,000 customers. The new minimum for residential use becomes 7 dollars for the first 4000 gallons, with 1.75 per 1000 gallons thereafter, replacing the prior 5 to 6.40 range in two system areas.

Opening of Combs-Hehl bridge on I-275 tolled with ceremony

The twin spans of the Combs Hehl I-275 bridge will open to traffic Wednesday December 19 weather permitting with ribbon cutting at 3 pm. The project links Ohio Kentucky and Indiana routes and completes the Cincinnati belt. Clermont County officials expect positive regional impact with speeches by Lieutenant Governor Martha Collins former Governor Bert Combs and Campbell County Judge Executive Lambert Hehl.

Health Board trims 1980 budget by 60000 dollars

The Health Board reduces next year’s spending from 285000 to 224772 dollars due to fewer new construction and plumbing permits. Township funding covers the shortfall, and the board will maintain mandated services while cutting staff and two vehicles. President Byron Clift cautions the cutbacks reflect a weak building industry.

Milford’s Christy Seeks 6th District Seat In 1980

Milford attorney Jim Christy enters the race for U S Representative from Ohio’s 6th District as Republican contender to succeed William H Harsha. Christy, a Clermont County transit board chair and former aide to Kindness and Powell, plans a Jan 11 Milford press conference to announce. Other hopefuls include Bob McEwen. Harsha will not seek reelection after ten terms.
