Seven Polio Cases Reported in Clermont County This Year

Clermont County reports seven polio cases in the year with one still hospitalized. The local March of Dimes chapter mobilizes immediately for each case, aided by funds loaned by the National Foundation in 1946. As the 1948 campaign nears, organizers aim for the strongest fundraising to repay the foundation.

Winter Heads Safety Council at Clermont County meeting

Fred Winter of Batavia station agent of the N and W Railway and active in Clermont County penal service activities led a Safety Council meeting Friday evening. Other officers included Earl Wolf of Bethel as vice president. A film on safety titled Peaceful Valley was presented by Joy Mae Warner County Home Demonstration Agent.

Fire destroys 340 broilers on Concorde Road farm

An overheated stove caused a farm blaze on Concorde Road Friday night destroying 340 broilers on Harold Wiedman’s property. Amelia fire department fought the flames and damage was estimated at about $400.

Loveland Youth Injured in Twightree Road Collision

Richard Lewis age 16 of Loveland was in a Saturday crash on Twightree Road riding a motorcycle when his vehicle collided with a car driven by John Giarius of Sharonville. Lewis sustained a broken leg and arm and was treated at Christ Hospital.

Owensville Man John H. Rosselot Dies at 75

John H. Rosselot of Owensville, age 75, died of a heart attack at his home. He was buried in St. Louis Cemetery after a Requiem High Mass at St. Louis Church. He operated sawmills and threshing machines and was known countywide. He and his wife celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Nov. 22. He is survived by 10 children and 28 grandchildren. Services were by John Craver Funeral Home of Milford.

Price Hill Man Hits Road Scraper At Locust Corner

Robert Rostuitcher of Price Hill is hospitalized in St Francis with a broken finger and hand and three concussions after a wreck at Locust Corner. Wilbur Boggs stopped to aid. In Bethel Virgil Camery fines went to two for DUI and Orla Hensley for drunk and disorderly. The Cooper infant was hospitalized for treatment.

Cornerstone Laying Set for Legion Post Home

January 18 Sunday afternoon is the time for the cornerstone ceremony of the Frank W. Weaver Post Legion home near Batavia. The new building on an 18 acre tract requires rapid progress with completion planned for summer. Bernard Koegler funds the copper plated brass cornerstone block displayed at Rice Restaurant Batavia. Charles Bell supervises construction. blocks to be laid by Karl Schmidt.

Study of Hospital Facility Need Spurs County Meetings

A continuing study on local hospital facilities held a Williamsburg meeting at the school with Ohio State University health specialist Sewell Milliken and J. Masher of the State Department of RamispA. A second session was planned in Georgetown. The Clermont County Agricultural Council organized the events to assess a hospital serving Clermont and nearby Brown Adams and possibly Warren counties. Further recommendations will follow the survey. The Williamsburg session was led by Mrs. Fred D. Mattis, with County Agent W. W. Hamilton and J. A. Ashton contributing.

Gaskins Heads Committee to Plan X-Ray Program

Gaskins will lead a committee formed by the association to organize a mobile X ray unit program. The $75,000 unit from the State Department of Health is due to arrive February 10. A Jan 2 meeting at the Court House invites all interested groups to help set the schedule and provide free X rays to adults and high school students.

Batavia High Falls to Glendale Ends Two-Game Streak

Batavia High School basketball lost 96-24 at home to Glendale, snapping its two game win streak as Batavia foul trouble persisted missing 13 of 21 attempts. Other scores include Batavia 40 Williamsburg 31 Amelia 45 Goshen 40 New Richmond 26 Felicity 17 Williamsburg 46 Owensville 32 Bethel 56 Mostow 20.

Milford approves permanent Milford Police Chief Konrad

The council approves art N. Konrad as Milford Police Chief after a six months probationary period. The permanent appointment places him on a civil service basis removable only for cause.

Batavia Couple to Wed at Westfield Church

A wedding of Miss Margaret Jean Teets and Lloyd Robert Bailey will take place at 8:40 p.m. December 27 at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield New Jersey. The bride a Batavia High School commercial teacher is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter E Teets of Westfield. The groom son of Mrs Lloyd Whitfield Bailey and the late Mr Bailey formerly of Middletown Ohio is attending the University of Cincinnati College of Law. The ceremony will feature a satin gown with chantilly lace veil and a bouquet of white roses and stephanotis. They will reside in Batavia after a wedding trip to New York.

Clermont juries hear land dispute and murder case

Selected juries open with a landowner tenant dispute expecting damages near 1000 dollars. Zed Craycraft vs Garland Patrick set for Jan 8 while Moore vs American Gas Company slated for Jan 13-14. Ernest Green faces grand jury in January after a Dec 9 shooting of his mother Mrs Nora Stevens. She survives but injured.

Seyler Wins Fourth Amateur Prize in Miami Open

Robert E. Seyler captain of the University of Miami golf team wins fourth amateur prize at the Miami Open. Scores were 69 74 173 68. A former naval officer he is a senior at Miami University Arts college and will receive a B S next June. His father, Ezra Seyler, is a former Clermont County Commissioner.

Gifford to Study Water Project Financing in Clermont County
