Accidental Shooting in Barber Shop Injures Youth

William Bishop Jr was accidentally shot in a barber shop when a revolver belonging to Frank Buckle fell from his overall pocket striking the hammer. The bullet pierced Bishop in the leg near the groin and tore intestines. part of the intestines were removed. He remains in critical condition but doctors expect possible recovery. The event is regarded as accidental with no conflict between Buckle and Bishop.

Batavia Masonic Lodge Hits Membership Boom

The Batavia Masonic lodge reports record membership growth. Last Saturday night four candidates were raised after a daylong session from afternoon to midnight. Refreshments were served in the banquet room by the stewards with talks by members and visitors including guests from Amelia Milford Cincinnati and Mason.

Citizens of Jackson township and yrciity hold a fox drive on Saturday December 27 with lines from Monterey on Chillicothe pike to Marathon and back. Captains include Lewis Steward Win Smith Fred Brown Merrick Glancy Cooney Smith Allen Ashton Robt Brothers Hoy Sprague Sam Harlow John Hawley. Lines form at 9 am with no guns or dogs allowed. Committees organize the event.

Former Citizen John Q. Brown Dies in Covington

Attorney John Q. Brown formerly of Batavia died in a Covington Kentucky hospital on Thursday. He was brother to Mrs. Caroline Fairman of Batavia and had lived in Kentucky for years. A Clermont bar member in earlier years he was laid to rest at Union Cemetery after services held Saturday with Batavia Masons as pallbearers.

Charles Barton Nolan son of Stephan and Sarah Nolan born November 16 1894 died November 24 1924 aged 30 years eight days. He attended Amelia Village school from primary through graduation in 1914. In talking to his teacher the obituary reflects on his aims and character during life.

Soldier Baba Muy Osu Ww Ww E Bu Recalled From War

Baba Muy Osu enlisted in Batavia Ohio on March 20 1918 and served overseas in World War I. He was wounded in the Argonne Forest and died after recovery failed. He was discharged March 20 1919, returned home to care and later married Bila Prestrup May 20 1920.

Batavia Girls and Boys Fall to Milford in Close Contests

Batavia traveled to Milford last Friday and lost both games. The girls were defeated 27 to 1 in a hard fought contest while the Batavia boys lost 19 to 16 in a tightly contested affair.

Mrs Clara Stagg lifelong Batavia resident dies at 82 at her Water Street home. Foster Altman of Felicity is named Deputy U S Marshal with headquarters in Cincinnati for a four year term. The appointment followed efforts by U S Senator Willis and Hon. Kearns and is welcomed by his party supporters. Resignation of Clermont County Extension Agent Clyde Tom

Clyde F. Tom resigns as county extension agent in Clermont County effective January 1. He cites no personal plans and notes disagreement with the Farm Bureau board last fall over 1925 work, including soybean acreage expansion and tuberculosis free cattle. Tom says he will miss friends and acquaintances from the county.

Milford Men Host Dinner and Smoker Event

The Milford Men organization held a dinner and smoker at the Milford schoolhouse last Tuesday evening. Thurman Miller of Wilmington gave a humorous talk on sportsmanship. Ferns Collegians and J. E. Jackson provided music and entertainment, with Jackson delivering a baritone and a dialect reading. The program drew a strong crowd despite bad weather. The Batavia Woman's club will meet on Saturday December 27 with programs on Wilson and related topics.

J D Payne Dies After Illness In Milford

J D Payne of Milford dies at home after a brief illness described as a complication following a heavy cold. He was president and representative of the Crushed Stone and Ballast Co of Clare. A prominent Republican, funeral is planned for Saturday with burial at Maineville.
