Batavia Boy Scout Troop led by Scoutmaster revealed last week that sixty toys were gathered, repaired and repainted for needy children in Batavia and surrounding areas. The troupe also created fifty miniature kitchen sets from discarded boxes and, with the Girl Scouts, raised 45.50 from a September lawn fete to aid the Community Christmas Committee for underprivileged children.

Fire destroys Marsh home in Mt Carmel last Thursday
Fire of undetermined origin struck the Ed Marsh home in Mt Carmel causing an estimated $5,000 loss. The two story ten room dwelling burned to the ground before help arrived and left the Marsh family and the Brown household to salvage only a few belongings. Neighbors housed the destitute families for the night. Insurance covered part of the loss.

Dog Licenses Now On Sale In Batavia
Clermont County dog owners are reminded that all dogs must be licensed. Licenses went on sale December 15 in the Auditor’s office with no penalties through January 20. After that a $1 penalty applies. fees are $1 for male, $3 for female, $1 for spayed, and $10 for kennel. George P. Medary, Williamsburg, is the county dog warden.
