Seventh and eighth graders Rosemary Heming Donald Rapp and Loretta Woilfr am explained to an assembly how the Jesse Tree represents prophecies foretelling Christ. Each symbol on the tree stands for a truth foretold by the prophets signaling His coming.
Fourth and fifth graders Vicky Emery Jenet Brown and Tony Wolfer explain the Advent wreath tradition. They describe lighting one candle each Sunday with the family head and a recited prayer. The first second and fourth Sundays use purple candles while the third Sunday uses a pink candle to mark the Messiah’s near approach.
Six children Bobby Harrilla Rickey Stratman Martha Homan present Advent Tower and Advent Window depictions of the Great O Antiphons. Children make posters for home devotions as part of the Advent season.
A second and third grade project titled Kristkindl AerialMenei lists children from first and second grades. Names will be drawn by the class, and the winner will receive acts of sacrifice and prayers from his Kristkindl. Tommy Wiederhold, Anita Rolfes, and Tommy Seibert present to the class.
The Crib idea selected for first and second graders features each child making a decorated oatmeal box crib. They will fill it with straw symbolizing obedience mortification and good deeds for family and classmates as Kurt Vanderheide Mary Griffith and Tommy Bauer explain to the assembly.
Funeral services were held for Mrs Janet Bissantz 41 and her children Linda Susan 7 and Mark Alan 4 in Batavia Ohio after a fatal fire in Symmes township Hamilton County. Firefighters from Loveland and Montgomery fought the blaze but could not save the victims found in bedrooms. Mrs Bissantz was a former Clermont County deputy sheriff and Batavia resident learned of the tragedy from a GE employee.
Loveland adopts a one percent income tax on residents and city workers, effective January 1, 1963. The ordinance, passed December 11, targets revenue for garbage collection, street work, and recreation, with leftover funds for capital improvements. Nonresidents working in Cincinnati will also face the tax. a potential legal test looms as Cincinnati blocked a ruling.
The Amelia Women's Civic Club met December 17 at 8 p.m. at Mrs. Matt Storch's home. Co-hostesses were Mrs. James Kayser, Mrs. O' Nerre, and Mrs. Gayle Lantz. The gathering marked the club's Christmas party with members in attendance.
The Cour ier will not publish its Tuesday edition during the Christmas and New Year holidays. The Thursday edition will continue as usual, and the Tuesday issue will resume on January 8 to give employees additional time off.
Members gathered for a brief meeting and to exchange gifts then held a short business session. Officers for 1963 were installed, with plans including a welfare basket contribution.
Mrs. Albertine Potts 57 of 8532 Beechmont Ave was struck while crossing Beechmont Ave after alighting from a bus. Her husband witnessed the collision. Police identified the drivers as Robert Laumann 20 of Mt. Washington and Richard Rolsen 35 of Williamsville. Potts died at the scene.
Harold Neu announced the annual Leader Recognition Dinner held December 13 at Georgetown. Over 100 reservations covered all Brown County troops and Clermont County explorer posts from Route 125 to the Ohio River. Leaders received training, camping, veteran, and membership awards as Winston Stubbs delivered the principal address.
County commissioners approved a sewer study and voted to pursue grant funding. The action follows a public review of the report and outlines next steps for cost sharing and project timelines.
Ohio banks paid 36 331 in taxes on deposits for their customers in 1962 and absorbed further share taxes. Clermont County local banks paid 36331 on deposits and 5875 on capital as part of a statewide increase in intangible property taxes collected from financial institutions. The deposits tax rose from 11 152 703 in 1951 to over 15 500 000 in 1962 while the share tax grew from about 1 000 000 to over 2 000 000.
State education officials urge consolidation of Bethel Tate and Felicity Franklin as a path to serve about 700 high school students and broaden the tax base. An alternate plan envisions uniting Felicity Franklin Bethel Tate Williamsburg and Batavia to form a district with city-like services. The report criticizes current facilities, calls for a modern 500 pupil high school and notes the need to expand or modernize Bethel’s aged campus and gymnasium.
Bethel Bethel Tate residents clubs churches and merchants sponsor a Christmas festival December 23 at Burke Park starting 1 p.m. Merchants donate monthly to fund treats for children under 11. Classes decorate trees for prizes. Santa arrives by parachute if weather allows.
New Richmond officials rejected a bid from the Hamilton and Clermont County Incinerator Co to dispose of village garbage at 3 to 4 dollars per ton. Mayor Arch Wigglesworth cited weekly disposal costs of about 80 dollars and hauling costs far under the incineration proposal. He said the village has no interest in the service and announced Attorney Donald J. Zimmerman will replace Charles Springer as village solicitor in 1963. Zimmerman, a Cincinnati-area lawyer, is with Hoover Beall and Eichel.

Following a feasibility report the Clermont County Commissioners send a $7 million sewer system plan to the federal government seeking a 50 percent grant. Parbeau Construction Management of Batavia prepared the plan to serve 5000 homes with six plants in Union and three in Miami.
Robert M. Goforth 39 will resign as Williamsburg schools executive head effective Jan 1 to become superintendent of Forest Hills schools Forestville He is the 33rd applicant for the 13000 annual post and has a contract from Jan 1 to July 31 1965 The Williamsburg board voted unanimously to release him He is married with three daughters and holds degrees from St Louis University and Xavier University and has four years teaching in west Clermont
