Prominent Clermont County Officials Die in Quick Succession

Two Clermont County political figures died unexpectedly last Thursday morning. U S Marshal Fred F Holt 47 of New Richmond and Danner 60 finance chairman of the Clermont County GOP both passed away. Holt previously served as Clermont County Chief probation officer for 10 years and New Richmond police chief. Danner was active in GOP circles and organized major clubs. Requiem mass held at St Peter Church New Richmond. services and burial at Giaccianu Memorial Gardens Mt Repose. Clermont County Courthouse to close Dec 24 and Christmas Day open Dec 23.

Trustees Clerks To Elect Officers Tonight

Clermont County Trustees and Clerks Association meets at 8 p.m. in the Kahle Building Batavia for officer elections. Association cooperates with the American Legion in its Kids Christmas Fund project and members are urged to bring gifts to the meeting.

Civil Defense Report Details Local Preparedness Efforts

County Civil Defense director Carl Copenhaver reported to the County Commissioners that 15 shelters are stocked with medical supplies and food, 1696 shelters are licensed with radiation kits, and 6000 people are trained in first aid with 100 in medical self help. The program includes 43 doctors and dentists, 131 professional medical personnel, 63 supporting staff, 37 volunteer civil defense police, 44 firefighters, 162 rescue personnel, and a 24 hour warning point with an emergency operations center and eight emergency services units. The network includes two clerical workers and two radiation monitor instructors and links to city information channels.

Savings Plan Established by W-T Community Federal Union

The W-T Community Federal Union, responding to member requests, created a special Savings Plan with books sent to members. Residents of South Union Township and North Pierce in the old Williamsville-Tobasco School District may join the federally chartered cooperative with offices at 759 Ohio Pike. The nine member board governs, with an independent Audit Committee of three reporting to the Bureau of Federal Credit Unions, and a three-person Credit Committee approves loans.

Clermont Northeastern Board OKs resignations and drawings

The Clermont Northeastern Board accepted the resignation of Mrs. Elizabeth Rockey and hired Mrs. Sara Wilson Gerhardt to fill the Newtonsville Elementary vacancy. A 1966 tax levy resolution set total school millage at 27.20 with 18.90 operating and 8.30 bonded mills. Superintendent Miller said schematic drawings for the building program were approved and bids expected January February with construction to begin in March. Libel Suit Seeks $100,000 Damages Over Township Ad

Mrs. Martha E. Nord, Pierce Township trustee, sues Vera McMillan for $100,000 claiming an October 28 newspaper ad by McMillan as chair of Committee Interested Pierce Township Citizens damaged Nord’s reputation as a woman, a citizen, and a trustee. The ad promoted rival candidates Matt Storch and Archer Knanse and opposed Nord’s re election. Storch and Knanse protested and repudiated the committee’s support.
