Anderson School Stamps Lions In One Sided Victory

Anderson led 10 8 at start and 13 11 in the early second quarter before pulling away. The orange and black held a 22 14 halftime margin and widened it to 39 22 after three quarters, finishing 54 34. Anderson reserves outscored N R Yminary 28 26 with Jackson of Anderson totaling 15 points. Haley of the Lions had a notable scoring run.

Cozaddale Man Dies After Trailmobile Plant Fire

Kenneth Van Landingham, 24, of Cozaddale, died at General Hospital after a fire and explosion at the Trailmobile Corporation plant on Robertson Road and 31st Street in Oakley. Four others were injured in the blast including Bernard Dean and William Richardson. The cause was ignition of rubber cement vapors in a trailer during ditch stabilization work.

New Trial Granted for Bryants Against Village of Bethel

Charles W. and Thelma R. Bryant win a new trial in Clermont County Common Pleas Court over $1,000 damages from Bethel waterworks. The jury previously ruled for the village after a Sept. 6 trial. Judge Harry Britton will hear the retrial tomorrow with same attorneys for both sides.

Milford Firemen Extinguish Blaze at Gilliam Home

A fire at Trimble Gilliam’s Round Bottom Road residence caused an estimated 500 dollars in damage. Fire Chief Paul E. Bosch led Milford firefighters who quenched the blaze after Mr. Gilliam stopped the spread with a rug. The house, owned by Lawrence Ernst, sustained damage to the wood shingle roof.

Farm Bureau Party At Batavia Marks Holiday Event

The Farm Bureau Co op hosts a Christmas party Saturday night at its new Batavia machinery and office building. A sound film of Dickens Scrooge debuts to set the mood as Joe Nordman leads Christmas carols with his accordion. Prof Ralph Lemon will run folk game activities, reviving popular pastimes for guests. Two Juveniles Admit Milford Bowling Alley Theft

Two youths aged 15 and 17 confessed to breaking a rear window at Milford Bowling Alley and stealing $229. Police Chief Earl N. Konrad arrested them after a two week investigation and turned them over to Clermont County Juvenile Court. Judge Halbisch ordered the parents to repay the stolen money and cover damage costs.

Baby Burned To Death In New Palestine Home Fire

A 17 month old, Elwood Barber, died in a house fire at New Palestine while his 3 year old brother Dennis escaped unharmed. State workers and neighbors attempted rescue but flames spread rapidly. The Red Cross evacuated the Barber family to the county home and seeks household donations.

Jury Fails to Reach Verdict in Second Trial

An all male jury could not agree on Charles Snider 22 of New Richmond in a morals offense case at Cler mont County Common Pleas Court. A prior jury on Nov 25 also failed to reach a verdict and Prosecuting Attorney Ray Bradford said Snider may be released.

Milford Council Approves $375 Fire Siren Purchase

Milford Council authorizes buying a new fire siren for 375 dollars to mount atop the town hall, replacing a 30 year old unit. The body also backs Chief Konrad’s crosswalk and stop sign plan at Lila Avenue school entrance, and directs engineer Jack Fuller to prepare Water Street extension plans from Locust to Sycamore.

Three Men Bound Over To Grand Jury In Clermont County

Three men bound over to the Clermont County grand jury this week. Ray Polster of Neville is charged with assault and battery and held on a 750 bond. Cuthbert George of Cincinnati and William Milton of Mt. Washington face breaking and entering and possession of stolen property with 1000 bonds each. Two Locust Corner juveniles involved. Mrs Hahn reported six guns and 50 dollars missing.

Services Held For Batavia Resident David K. McDonald

Services for prominent Batavia resident David K. McDonald were held Wednesday afternoon December 14. A life long Batavia resident and former U S Customs official, he died early Monday after a lingering illness. He was active in Batavia and Cincinnati Masonic Lodges and served as an elder in the Batavia Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his widow Grace a daughter Jean Hughey two grandchildren and a sister Miss Belle McDonald of Norwood.
