Amelia High Wins Both Genders Over Felicity

On Friday December 10 Amelia swept Felicity in basketball with the girls winning 85 to 14 and the boys 88 to 18. The Amelia squads featured accurate shooting and tight defense, with all players contributing. This marks Amelia girls seventh win and no losses, while the boys dominated throughout.

Miami man held on beatings charge after poker attack

Edward Griffith 50 of Oaklane Road Miami township is jailed in Batavia charged with assault with intent to kill his wife Isabella after a Sunday night incident. She escaped via a window and found help. Deputy Tom Brooks and others arrested him. he waived examination and posted 2000 bond. Isabella was hospitalized in serious condition.

J. H. Huey organizer for the Fraternal Order of Eagles aims to establish a Batavia chapter within weeks. Huey, based at Clermont Hotel, reports strong local interest from businessmen and several residents plan to join. The club room location was pending, with a hoped for site by week’s end. The Eagles boast about 695,758 members and assets near $42,000,000.

Tularemia Cases Reported in Clinton County

Two cases of Tularemia or rabbit fever were reported in Clinton County. The illness affects rabbits squirrels and rodents and can spread to humans. Protective steps include wearing rubber gloves when handling or cleaning these animals after shooting them avoiding animals that appear sick avoiding handling dead animals ensuring meat is thoroughly cooked and boiled before eating.

Batavia Bridge Club Hosts Turkey Dinner Night

The Batavia Broadway Bridge Club enjoyed a six o'clock turkey dinner at Mrs. Cora Bishop's home. Two tables of 500 and one table of bridge played, with each member bringing a ten cent gift and the high scorer selecting a prize. Members left late, reporting a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Dog Licenses Go On Sale In Clermont County

Clermont County dog licenses go on sale today in the auditor’s office at Batavia. Old licenses have expired and owners have until January 20, 1938, to buy new ones without penalty. Rates are set by state law: males over three months $1, spayed females over three months $1, females over three months $3, kennel $10. No fee for dogs under three months. After January 20 a $1 penalty applies for late registration.

Missing World War Memorial Guns Found in Court Testimony

Testimony in the James Dahlhover case linked two missing machine guns to world war memorials in Felicity and Moscow.
