Batavia Civic Committee Plans Charity Christmas Events

The Batavia Civic Committee prepares baskets of food and toys for about 40 families and offers flowers and candy to residents over eighty. Santa visits are set for December 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Town Hall Theatre, with school events on December 21. Main Street lights and a Courthouse Corner tree are planned as part of community efforts.

Batavia Garden Club Christmas Decoration Prizes

Batavia Garden Club announces a Christmas decoration contest with three prizes of 4.00, 3.60, and 2.00. Judging runs from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for post and doorway decorations. Mrs. Jerome Jackson and Mrs. Harry Britton will judge. judges will assess only doorways if lights are off.

Three Children Die in Milford House Fire

A Milford fire gutted the Weeden residence on Locust Street killing Marilyn Louise 12, Beatrice 9, and Joe Thomas 4 while their mother Isabel Weeden was away. Fire officials suspect a stove, oil lamps, or a faulty flue as possible causes. autopsy ruled death by asphyxiation. The three children were found together in one room.

Danbury Honored for Trailmobile Recruiting Trailer Aid

C E Danbury received a certificate of appreciation at a Hotel Sheraton-Gibson luncheon for supplying a Trailmobile recruiting office on wheels to southern Ohio.
