Ramona Amiott of Williamsburg won the county runner-up contest for the World Peace Declamation finals at the Methodist Church in Afton. Judges noted a close score against rivals Peggy Kautz of Williamsburg and Clara Barbara Stagge of Batavia as about 125 people watched. Amiott advances to face state winners in Columbus in February to qualify for the national meet.

Milford Club Suspected Gambler Denied Post Raid
After the Century Club raid in Clermont County authorities suspended for three months the priority rating of Walter H. Gingrich contractor of Terrace Park for alleged violations of a $200 revials used in the cancelind. The club opened late January and operated two nights before the raid. no arrests were made though elaborate gambling equipment was reported. Backers were thought to be a mix of northern Kentucky Indiana and Cincinnati men. James Franklin operated the Millcroft Inn and repurposed the old stone stable into the Century bar with remodeling costing several thousand dollars.

County Legion Sends 907 Xmas Gifts to Soldiers
On December 10 Batavia New Richmond and Williamsburg volunteers met at the Armory to pack 907 Christmas parcels for men and women in four Ohio Government Hospitals. Parcels funded by local citizens and aided by Eddie Cantor press. Emily Moore Batavia organized nearly 700 parcels weighing about 1000 pounds. Dale H. Nichols New Richmond led county effort.
