Stewart Wing Named at Augusta Hospital for Milford Nurse

Miss Alice F. Stewart longtime Milford nurse is honored with the Stewart Wing at University Hospital Augusta Georgia in recognition of 22 years as Director of the School of Nursing and Superintendent of Nurses. Her career spans Red Cross service in 1915 to hospital administration in Shreveport and Augusta.

Goshen Farmer Jacob W. Griffith Dies at 89

Jacob W. Griffith, 89, longtime Goshen resident and 59 year member of Goshen Lodge F and A M, died Thursday at his daughter's home near Goshen. Services were held Saturday at Monroe Funeral Home Milford with burial in Goshen Cemetery. Rev. A E Huntington presided. Griffith was Goshen's second oldest Mason and attended the Lodge centennial last spring as an honored guest. His wife Elizabeth Molitor Griffith died in 1931.

Prominent County Legionaire Weds Cincinnati Girl

Mrs. Laura Otis of Cincinnati and Roy W Brookings of Milford wed at the Methodist parsonage last Wednesday evening. Rev Rainsberger officiated. Brookings works at Cincinnati Millings Machine Co and is active in American Legion VFW and Clermont County groups. Attendants were Mr and Mrs Irwin Kain of Batavia. The couple will reside on Beechwood Road Milford after a short wedding trip.

Dr. Jesse A. Weir 80 Dies. Funeral Set in New Richmond

Dr. Jesse A. Weir, 80, known as The Colonel in Clermont County and Cincinnati, died December 2 after a WWI veterinary service overseas. Born in New Richmond, he studied veterinary surgery and worked with Dr. Jacob Hoffman in Cincinnati. He lived here since 1936. J. P. White & Sons directing the funeral tomorrow at 10 A.M.

Poultry Schools Planned in Clermont County

Don Rehl County Agent says four poultry schools will be held in Clermont County during December to teach producing quality eggs and proper marketing. Leading poultrymen in 15 other southwestern Ohio counties will attend similar sessions as part of efforts to raise egg quality and farm income.

Elizabeth Clark Roudebush, wife of Col William Roudebush and mother of George M and William Franklin Roudebush, died at her Newtonsville home on November 27 1894 at age 76. Her death notice appeared in the December 5 1894 miles ago column.

Felicity to Have Holiday Fox Hunt

Felicity-Franklin Township plans a holiday fox drive to curb rising fox numbers and protect farm flocks. The date is undecided. organizers note foxes often threaten poultry and livestock. In Ohio Valley hills foxes remain plentiful, hindering regular chases and prompting a community effort rather than an elimination aim.

Change of Non Highway Gasoline Rationing Effective Soon

Clermont County War Price and Rationing Board announces changes to non highway gasoline renewals for power equipment on farms. Renewals require 30 day notice, applications by mail or postcard, and complete horsepower details. First issuance will mail about 60 percent of the yearly ration. Also, no home canning sugar certificates may be issued after December 9, 1944 per OPA notice.

Vandals Threaten Milford Scout Lodge And Troop

Milford Troop No. 219 may be disbanded after vandals wrecked the Milford Boy Scout Lodge in October. The damaged building lacks a winter meeting place, no funds exist for repairs estimated over 1000 dollars, and scouts sleep in the home of Scoutmaster Howard E Noakes.

County Declamation Contest Sunday Night at Clermont County

The Clermont County Prince of Peace Declamation Contest will be Sunday evening December 10 at the ie Methodist Church. The winner receives a silver medal from the Ohio Council of Churches and advances to the District Contest in January for a gold medal. State prizes include 200 cash and four-year college scholarship to first place, 100 and two-year scholarship to second, 50 and one-year scholarship to third.
