Harry Mitchell colored of Batavia died at Christ Hospital after an appendicitis operation. He was buried Friday from the M. E. church after being brought home for burial. Allison Ball of Williamsburg aged 82 is the last living child of a Civil War veteran and the sole survivor of a family of 16. Born in Highland County, he moved to Williamsburg at eight, worked as a bricklayer in Cincinnati, and served in the 187th Ohio Volunteer Infantry for one year. He and his wife spend declining days in Williamsburg with poor health.

Car Crash Outrage Turns Over Three Captives
On Wednesday night Mrs. Gerald Iles with Mss Wilma Brown and Florence Summerside skidded when brakes were applied. The car turned around twice and flipped, breaking the top down. They escaped with only a few scratches as a bus picked them up. John Philhower arrived first on scene to free the trapped occupants from the wreck.

County superintendents set dates for tournaments and event
The county school superintendents met at the Batavia office last Wednesday and decided to hold the Boys basketball tournament at Batavia Armory on February 23 and the Girls tournament at Bethel high school auditorium on a later date. Kidnapped Girl Safe After Escape From Cincinnati Abduction
Miss Mary Marchant aged 19 was kidnapped near Farmville Virginia on November 30 by a masked man and woman. She escaped by leaping from an automobile near Cincinnati on Tuesday night of last week and wandered along the Ohio river road near New Richmond. She was taken to the home of Jack Montieth and turned over to Marshal Harry Ire ton of New Richmond. In a dazed condition she later gave her father’s name and address and was returned home with her father and brother on Thursday morning. Her mind had not cleared. She was a college student fond of hockey swimming and boating and was tied on the back seat during captivity.
