Milford and Batavia tie with 475 each for motor vehicle tax shares in Clermont County. Neville is smallest. The total across districts is 4 856. Funds go to road upkeep, with numerous districts and numbers shown alongside town names.
Burton Richards and Buster Woods two Batavia youths wandered away during a day of hunting in Adams county. They were found alive Friday night after parents and brothers sought them. The boys had sheltered in a hay barn and disposed of one gun before returning home unharmed.
Batavia high school basketball teams travel to the Armory on Friday night to face New Richmond. A fast game is anticipated as both squads return from valuable experience on other floors. Batavia expects strong local support as visitors bring a crowd of good sportsmen.
The Williamsburg Daughters of Rebekah lodge hosted the Batavia lodge last Friday for a special meeting with an appropriate program. Social time featured oyster soup coffee pickles celery and mince pie.
The bill of sale department has grown in importance as autos change hands often, each transfer costing 26¢ to enter, adding to the county treasury. The revenue surpasses the deputy’s salary and supports road funding via the gasoline tax, which charges users for better roads.
Philip Swing old est son of the late P F Swing of Batavia died at his home on Grandin Beach Cincinnati after several weeks illness. He was born in Batavia, studied law in Cincinnati, passed the bar, and became a prominent attorney. He was a member of Hutton Bond Company and several associations. A widow and three daughters survive, along with two brothers. Funeral Saturday at Union Cemetery Batavia.

Harvey Drake born Cincinnati Ohio September 20 1859 died at home near Amelia Ohio four o clock Saturday morning November 17 1928 aged 69 years one month and 27 days. Survived by wife Laura eight daughters Mabel Hamilton Madisonville Carrie Hicks Agnes Drake Amelia six grandchildren and a faithful wife. He joined Amelia M E church and Milton Lodge No 99 I C C F. Card thanks from family for kindness and sympathy.

Miss Frances Hulick of Batavia and William Lail of Glen Este quietly wed on August 17 1927 in Indiana. Lail works with John Hancock Life Ins Covington KY and they will set up housekeeping. Mrs Lail has resigned her government post effective January 1. The couple is popular with many friends.
Eldon son of Mrs Anna Erica Olive Branch and Lydia Wild Dayton wed at Dayton A B church on November 28. Rev E F Wegner of Cleveland officiated as Otto Wegner served as best man and Louise Dunzewiler as brides maid. A reception for 75 followed at the bride’s home and the couple reside in Olive Branch.

On Saturday evening December first John Duchemin and Lois Myrl Phillips of Cincinnati married at Rev Burdsall home in Batavia with a ring ceremony. They depart for a motor trip up state and plan a Cincinnati residence for the groom’s business.
Demont Q. Morrow longtime Ohio Republican elector and former assistant attorney general under Harding dies at 70 after a paralytic decline since September. He led the state central committee, served forty five years as an attorney, and chaired the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home board. Funeral held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at his home with burial in New Market. Thanksgiving visitors included P B Elrod family and H A Patton party.
On November 5 L. C. Brown arrived in Batavia and forged C. E. Pringle’s name on three checks drawn on the Batavia bank payable to himself. He cashed them at E. Neuman’s, G. Gunderley, and Mrs. Bess Glaney’s for amounts from 375 to 5.75 dollars. The bank honored the checks. Last Tuesday Mr. Pringle balanced his bank book and uncovered the fraud. Raymond G. Ingersoll of Warren Ohio state commander of the American Legion was guest of Archie Lee Boyce Post for a Tuesday meeting and banquet in the High School Auditorium. The Cler mont County Legion and Auxiliary council were also present for the annual officer installation after a P T A chicken dinner. Ingersoll urged ex servicemen to engage with Legion activities and noted public awareness exceeds that of nonmembers.
M W Hagen of Middletown with wife and daughter Loreen were in an accident with Albert and David Butz of Madeira at the intersection of route 74 and 132 above Williamsburg. Mrs Hagen suffered a head laceration and was dazed. All involved were injured. cars wrecked and towed for repairs. Dr O B Martin treated the injured.
Local Red Cross Chapter and American Legion Auxiliary prepare 35 Christmas boxes for servicemen in foreign hospitals. Each box contains 10 practical items such as pocket knives, diaries, playing cards, pencils, soap, toothbrushes, and writing pads. Also noting a bazaar at Olive Branch M. E. Church on December 19, 1928 hosted by Mildred Gomien and students.
