Last Saturday George Davis resigned as Chief Deputy Sheriff of Clermont County to take a guard position at the Milling Machine plant in Oakley. Sheriff Auxier named John E. Brothers of Afton as assistant until January 6 when Sheriff-elect Thomas Brooks and his deputies assume control.

Draft Boards A Head Of Schedule

Local Draft Board No 1 has sent 147 questionnaires. 53 acted on, 19 placed in Class 1 A and 35 in the deferral group. One was cited for classification but may change after medical exams. Board No 2 sent 300 questionnaires with 175 classified, 45 in Class A and 1 in 1 D. 7 examined so far. Both boards aim for 20 percent classified by year’s start.

Rotary Basketball Fun Fest Aids Batavia Christmas Fund

Plans for a charity basketball event by the Batavia Rotary Club against Mt Carmel Bloomer Girls to raise funds for the Batavia Christmas fund. A police detail will guard spectators at the 7:30 PM game on December 16 at Batavia School gym. a return match is set for December 19 at Mt Carmel gym.

Harvey Henderson Again Before Court

Harvey Henderson returns before Judge White on a deferred sentence for non support. The judge previously handed a probationary term which prosecutors say he has not fulfilled. Allegations include failure to provide for his family and consorting with other women. The case is expected to proceed to severe penalties.
