Water systems linked as cross-county test planned

Health director and state engineer approve a plan to connect PUB and Cincinnati water systems west of the county line along Rt 125 near Cherry Grove Plaza. A 250 foot six inch main and 60 foot meter vault will measure bidirectional flow at a projected cost. Public hearing set for Jan 14 in Columbus to amend the state building code.

Amelia launches holiday promotion with Santa visit in Amelia

Amelia Jan Scamyhorn announces Christmas events by the Greater Amelia Business Association. Santa’s castle moves to the municipal building front this week for visits on Dec 12 and 19 from 4 to 6.30, with tree decorating by Girl Scout troops on Dec 12. In Bethel Tate, voters approved the operation levy 645 to 500, passing by 15 votes though the measure needed 1911 total. West Clermont voters rejected a teachers salaries levy, failing by 79 votes in balloting.

Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department invites the public to an open house on Sunday December 13 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the new firehouse in Newtonsville. GOP Spent $5243 Year Report

The Clermont County Republican central and executive committees spent $5243 and ended the year with a balance of $1036, treasurer James W. Walker reported. The report filed with the Board of Elections shows $6280 in treasury for the year, with a May dinner netting $2437 and total receipts $2578 from July to November. The largest expenditure, $2483, funded advertising including newspapers and sample ballots.

Bible Baptist choir to present Love Transcending cantata

Bible Baptist Church of Summerside will stage the Christmas cantata Love Transcending by John W. Peterson on Sunday December 20 at 7 45 p.m. Rev Bruce Woodruff pastor will narrate the musical. Bethel Tate and West Clermont voters reject school levies

Both Bethel Tate and West Clermont school districts defeated the same education measure in the November 3 election. Bethel Tate would have faced a 12.5 percent operational cut if the levy failed, while West Clermont’s failure could endanger teachers. Bethel Tate approved renewals and a new levy yielding about 6.30 per 1000 property value, West Clermont’s failed levy would have added 2.50 per 1000.

The Clermont County Neediest Kids Christmas Fund accepts new toys and clothing at all county Legion posts and many local stores and addresses. Donated items will be sorted by age and distributed to needy children before Christmas. contributions may be mailed to Box 311 Batavia.
