Health director and state engineer approve a plan to connect PUB and Cincinnati water systems west of the county line along Rt 125 near Cherry Grove Plaza. A 250 foot six inch main and 60 foot meter vault will measure bidirectional flow at a projected cost. Public hearing set for Jan 14 in Columbus to amend the state building code.
Amelia Jan Scamyhorn announces Christmas events by the Greater Amelia Business Association. Santa’s castle moves to the municipal building front this week for visits on Dec 12 and 19 from 4 to 6.30, with tree decorating by Girl Scout troops on Dec 12. Cash awards totaling 300 will be presented at 7 p.m. Dec 24 after caroling at 6.30.
In Bethel Tate, voters approved the operation levy 645 to 500, passing by 15 votes though the measure needed 1911 total. West Clermont voters rejected a teachers salaries levy, failing by 79 votes in balloting.
The report lists precinct by precinct results with for and against tallies including Bethel A B C and townships such as Tate Franklin and Washington. West Clermont precinct results show for votes leading in each case with several close margins.
Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department invites the public to an open house on Sunday December 13 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the new firehouse in Newtonsville. Visitors view the 1964 Cadillac ambulance and firefighting equipment. Officers for 1964 include Chief Donald Lykins Ass't Chief Eugene Welker Captain Bill Black and Lieutenant Eugene Shinkle.
The Clermont County Republican central and executive committees spent $5243 and ended the year with a balance of $1036, treasurer James W. Walker reported. The report filed with the Board of Elections shows $6280 in treasury for the year, with a May dinner netting $2437 and total receipts $2578 from July to November. The largest expenditure, $2483, funded advertising including newspapers and sample ballots.

Bible Baptist Church of Summerside will stage the Christmas cantata Love Transcending by John W. Peterson on Sunday December 20 at 7 45 p.m. Rev Bruce Woodruff pastor will narrate the musical. Soloists include Wallace Gideons Lauretta Jones Joyce Simpson Dora Woodruff Marilyn Warner and Jim Warner with Frankie Gideons piano and Marsha Clark organ. The church is at 629 Batavia Pike on Old State Route 74 Summerside a growing church with a family oriented program.
Both Bethel Tate and West Clermont school districts defeated the same education measure in the November 3 election. Bethel Tate would have faced a 12.5 percent operational cut if the levy failed, while West Clermont’s failure could endanger teachers. Bethel Tate approved renewals and a new levy yielding about 6.30 per 1000 property value, West Clermont’s failed levy would have added 2.50 per 1000.
The Clermont County Neediest Kids Christmas Fund accepts new toys and clothing at all county Legion posts and many local stores and addresses. Donated items will be sorted by age and distributed to needy children before Christmas. contributions may be mailed to Box 311 Batavia. Co-chairmen are Donald Patton of Amelia and Joseph Schott II of Milford.
MT. HOLLY The Republican Club of Clermont County will hold its annual Christmas dinner at the D-X Ranch. Officers named: Ernest C. Fried rich president Lois Brown vice president Clarence Lytle treasurer Ronni Bennett recording secretary Dorothy Schuester corresponding secretary. Buddy Ross of WLWT to provide music.
Donald Watson, newly elected sheriff, attends a five day special institute at Columbus this week. It is the nation’s first for new sheriffs and is sponsored by the Vocational Trade and Industrial Education Services, State Department of Education, Ohio State University, and run with Buckeye Sheriff’s Association and Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police.
The Clermont County Tuberculosis and Health Association executive secretary H. Stirling Moore urged support for the Christmas Seal program to control and eradicate tuberculosis. He noted TB deaths have declined but new cases remain stubborn, calling for broad public backing of the campaign.
Northeast High School Band will hold its Christmas Concert at 8 p m on December 16 featuring quartets from various sections. Performances include Beethoven clarinet quartet Three Bagatelles and other works by Richard Walker Norman Carden Merwin Britton with named soloists and instrumentalists. The public is invited, says band director Martin P McConnell.
Luther Smith of Bethel trains in off set printing and silk screen at the Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries Rehabilitation Center Woodlawn moving to Mt. Washington to be closer to the print shop during his fifty week program. He and his wife Elizabeth have four children Luther Jr. Barbara Lynn Michelle and Sandra.
