River flood task force braces for crest at New Richmond
Conover convened the county flood task force as barricades were readied for Saturday to block low roads. Red Cross planned a shelter at 53 feet, potentially housing 15 to 20 families, while school staff prepared to remove fuel tanks to keep water out of bus facilities. A motorist was trapped on Old 52 by rising water, and residents sought aid for trailers and basement intrusion. Daniel Bingaman linked river forecasts to disaster staff via computer in the New Richmond emergency center.
