Two charged with client abuse at Batavia center

Two direct care workers at Southwestern Ohio Developmental Center in Batavia were arrested in late November for assaults on residents on Oct. 31 and Oct. 23. A third person faces gross sexual imposition charges that were to be heard by a grand jury on Dec. 4, tied to a supervisor at the facility.

CART Insurance Crisis Threatens Transit Service

CART director Allen McKinley announced a three year policy with Transit Casualty ends December 31 as the insurer goes out of business. He has sought quotes from 13 agencies since November 7, but none have offered coverage yet. CART paid 38000 in premiums for 23 buses this year and risks shutdown if no insurer is found. River threat fades as flood crest passes town

New Richmond weathered a near flood as the Ohio River rose to 52.8 feet in Cincinnati and 61 feet at Meldahl Dam. A rainbow appeared as volunteers stood by at the village hall. Few campers moved. no evacuations. By 3 a.m. Monday, emergency staff returned to Batavia.

Weather outlook predicts heavier winter precipitation

The National Weather Service foresees above average snow and rain for the area this winter. Recent November recorded 7.51 inches of rainfall from Gulf of Mexico frontal systems.
