Young Girl Injured by Accidental Gunshot in New Richmond

Garnett Waitis twelve was seriously wounded when a loaded shotgun discharged while she played with it at the New Richmond home of Elmer and Palkner. Palkner said a gun part broke, he was away at a hardware store, and he did not know it was loaded. The girl was taken to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati for treatment. She is the daughter of Julie Waltis and was to be adopted by the Palkners the following week.

Three Cases Heard Simultaneously in Clermont County

At Batavia County Court House three trials ran together. Mildred Smith sought to prove paternity of a child born Aug 27 1946. the jury found the man not guilty. Morrel v Morrel appealed to amend a divorce decree. Pelzer v Pelzer involved alimony citation.

McConaughy To Return As County Sanitarian In 1947

Robert McConaughy will resume duties as County Sanitarian in February 1947 after army service. He previously held the post from April 1939 to May 1942, then served, while Albert Kistner has resigned November 30 and returned home to New Richmond.

Judo Expert to Lecture and Exhibit for Clermont Rangers

The Clermont Rangers Mt. Carmel Unit will host its December 9 meeting at 8 p.m. in the Glen Este Mt. Carmel school gym. The program features J. B. Stephanoff, a nationally known judo expert, with assistants David Cowdry and Alex Schmitt. Stephanoff taught Combat Army Engineers at the University of Cincinnati and trained Wright Aeronautical staff. law enforcement have been invited and a large turnout is expected for an educational and engaging demonstration.

In Batavia on a Monday evening in cold weather the Republican Women of the County Farm Organization elected Mrs. Nellie Mattox of Amelia as president for the coming year. State aid funds reach Clermont County schools in quarter four

The fourth quarterly payment of state aid to Clermont County schools totaling nearly $100,000 has been received. Twenty one districts are slated to receive funds. The Milk Producers Union plans a regular meeting at the Court House in Batavia Friday night December 6 at 8 o'clock. The Mt Moriah Church ladies in Tobasco will host a cafeteria chicken supper at the Williamsville Tobasco school Friday December 13 from 5 to 9 pm. Mr and Mrs Robert Kahle announce the birth of a baby boy born Thanksgiving Day. The Kahles formerly lived in Batavia and now reside in Kalida Ohio. Mrs Nelle Bach and son Roger along with Mr and Mrs H Patchell of Perintown spent Thanksgiving Day with the Patchell family.

Six year old may be expelled over flag pledge

At Mt Carmel Glen Este school a public meeting on Friday will decide if 6 year old Joe Blomer Jr., son of Mr and Mrs Joe Blomer, is expelled for failing to salute the flag. His mother, a Jehovah Witness, cites religious belief and a 1943 Supreme Court ruling favoring her group. Local officials say the incident originated elsewhere and suspension could become permanent.

Rummell Plans New Photo Studio Move to Findlay

George and Betty Rummell, long in Batavia, plan selling the local studio and moving to Findlay early next year. They and Harry Rummell with Mack Below developed a method to convert old shutters to synchronizing shutters, for flash use. Estimated costs: $15 for the changeover and up to $3 for a battery case.
