Youth Killed In Car Mishap
David Fields aged 16 died when the car he rode in overturned in a field on Burdsale Road near his home. State patrol said Fields grabbed the wheel of the car driven by Joseph A. Von Hagen 16 who veered off, hit a fence and overturned. Fields was dead at the scene. Von Hagen had minor injuries treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital.

Ohio Highway Director J Phillip Richley could not attend due to weather. Robert F Bevis hosted a ceremony with Batavia officials and citizens. The 7.3 mile new section costs 5.44 million dollars and links Cincinnati to the nation’s capital. Contractors W L Harper and John J Jurgensen built bridges over the Norfolk and Western railroad and local waterways. The Appalachian program extends to 1978 with 870 million in federal funds. The Ohio segment includes 202 miles of super highway costing 175.6 million and will boost Clermont County development. Another section of I 275 from SR 32 to SR 125 is due to open soon at 5.57 million.
