The notice states the presidential primary will be held on the second Tuesday in May 1982 and every four years after. It explains nomination of state district and county candidates, election of precinct committeemen, separate party ballots, and required petition filings and fees. Eligibility, ballot rules, and certification timelines are detailed for candidates and voters.
The Clermont County Courier notes thanks to all who aided its first public social at the new S O O F home on Nov 28. Sister Hat tie Davidson donated a generous set of dinnerware and glassware. the quilt sold for 10 cents aided kitchen needs. the Piano Co. donated a generous instrument. Other Sisters and donors contributed numerous items.
BE H Patison, superintendent of county schools, is added to the list of committee members who will receive names of men seeking work on county bridge projects. He has already been approached.
A former Lieutenant Governor and six years as Secretary of State announces candidacy for the Republican nomination for Ohio Governor. He notes broad county support and editorials urging his run and pledges to present a clear platform before the May primaries.
Dedication of Amelia's new school building will take place Saturday December 6 with speakers Rev F B McMillan of Walnut Hills Hon Chas Kearne of Amelia and E H Pattison County Superintendent Bethel. A chicken dinner and abundant music are planned. Public invitation extended. The first snow of the season fell on Thanksgiving night after a cold day and wind. Judge and Mrs 0 N Young entertained relatives from Bethel Thursday.
The county election clerk filed a list of all voters from the November odd year elections to be used for the next two years. The names, with precincts and addresses, are kept in a single book and will aid the jury commission in compiling the jury wheel. It is a private matter and the commission need not solicit further names.
Local Prince of Peace Contest winners from the county compete at 8 p m Sunday evening at Batavia U B Church. Four contestants enter with county churches sharing in the program. Judges from elsewhere determine the winner to enter the district contest for a chance at the State Contest in Cleveland during the January State Pastor's Convention. Public invited.
Batavia Woman's Club will meet December 6 with Mrs George Bernstein as hostess. The program covers Persian themes including These pearls of thought in Persian gulfs were bred and The Rubaiyat Modern Persia with lectures on Oriental Rugs and Their Woven Legends by Mrs Moore and Mrs Nichols.
Grand Chief Patriarch Ralph G. Williamson and staff will hold a special meeting at Oleander Encampment No. 44 in Batavia in December. All Patriarch members are urged to attend and help make it a banner meeting. Refreshments will be served. Mark Kidd of Dayton spent Thanksgiving with his parents there.
The Batavia Township invites eight township schools to a December 6 2 p m convention at Batavia M E church. Program includes worship service two addresses by Harold Maddux Wilhe mvill e and Russell Speidel Batavia a solo by Dorothy Dunn Amelia and remarks by L L Hill Cozaddale president of County Council of Religious Education. Walter J Bauer chairman.
Rabbits are unusually scarce this season with many dying in fields. The remaining rabbits appear weak and lack vigor, not seeking shelter, and avoid callous hunters as they show signs of illness.
Residents of Williamsburg and members of the I O O F lodge celebrate their new lodge home. The building is a fine addition to the town with a large lodge room dining room kitchen and several small rooms for lodge work. A large crowd attended Saturday night for a social event.
The county reports a false circulating rumor about five bridge contracts to be awarded December 18. The Batavia and Williamsburg projects are not on the list. All five contracts are small with total expenditure under 87000 dollars, aimed to aid the unemployed.
The Ohio Highway Department plans winter construction of bridges in Clermont County with a total estimated outlay of about 37 000 dollars. Contracts awarded December 18 will begin after procurement and local labor priority, with completion set for spring 1982 except certain channel work. The work includes a 36 foot span on Route 50 over Sugar Camp Run, another over Dry Run, and one over Stone Lick Run. A second contract covers a Camp's Run slab bridge and a Lorado Run box culvert, totaling around 16 604 dollars. Local applicants are urged to inquire in the paper for details.
Mt Carmel unit of the Boy Scout Troop organized a Red Cross Roll Call to gauge youth interest as Thanksgiving Christmas and other occasions approach. Minnie B Bath Market St Batavis Ohio offers Greeting and Place Cards for such needs.
The Williamsburg Town Council considers renewing the ream franchise with 8 O P L Co and private consumers backing home management and ownership. A 25 year franchise was requested with reductions offered, but no agreement. Bethel plant representatives present as Batavia’s franchise hearing is pending.
Mrs T Smith of River Road Batavia was in Tom Danberry's candy department when her Ford jumped a 12 inch curb and crashed into a show window. The driver backed out narrowly missing another car. Damage estimated near 100 dollars to the building plus car damage.
At Goshen Grange No 2405 meeting on November 19 officers were elected including Worthy Master F B Hoggatt Lecturer Ray Ferree Steward Virginia McHenry Asst Steward Ivan Motsinger Chaplain Gilbert Huntly Gatekeeper Ruby Yeomans Secretary C A Bishop Pomona Yeomans L A Steward Aurelia Cook Juvenile Matron Gladys James Executive Committee Harry Snider Vesper Saxton D P Ferree and others The program featured characters by F B Hoggatt Lester House Duet by Hoggatt and House and a Wm Susshine performance The December meeting will feature women teachers from the local school.
Miss Carol H DeCamp of Batavia wed David R Hauss on November 24 at 9 p.m. The bride wore a sunset colored gown trimmed with brown velvet and carried ferns and rose buds. Attendants were T L DeCamp and Edth DeCamp. Rev Cherrington officiated. The couple left for a Maple Apartment in Norwood. Cincinnati librarians hosted a shower in her honor and Trinity church youths also honored her.
