County schools chief named for unemployment project

Dedication Set for New Amelia School Building

Dedication of Amelia's new school building will take place Saturday December 6 with speakers Rev F B McMillan of Walnut Hills Hon Chas Kearne of Amelia and E H Pattison County Superintendent Bethel. A chicken dinner and abundant music are planned. Public invitation extended. The first snow of the season fell on Thanksgiving night after a cold day and wind. Judge and Mrs 0 N Young entertained relatives from Bethel Thursday.

Names for Jury Court By Election Board Clerk

The county election clerk filed a list of all voters from the November odd year elections to be used for the next two years. The names, with precincts and addresses, are kept in a single book and will aid the jury commission in compiling the jury wheel. It is a private matter and the commission need not solicit further names.

County Contest at Batavia U B Church

Local Prince of Peace Contest winners from the county compete at 8 p m Sunday evening at Batavia U B Church. Four contestants enter with county churches sharing in the program. Judges from elsewhere determine the winner to enter the district contest for a chance at the State Contest in Cleveland during the January State Pastor's Convention. Public invited.

Grand Chief Williamson to Lead Special December Meeting

Grand Chief Patriarch Ralph G. Williamson and staff will hold a special meeting at Oleander Encampment No. 44 in Batavia in December. Rabbits are unusually scarce this season with many dying in fields. The remaining rabbits appear weak and lack vigor, not seeking shelter, and avoid callous hunters as they show signs of illness.

False bridge contracts rumor clarified for county

The county reports a false circulating rumor about five bridge contracts to be awarded December 18. The Batavia and Williamsburg projects are not on the list. All five contracts are small with total expenditure under 87000 dollars, aimed to aid the unemployed.

Clermont County Bridge Projects Promote Local Unemployment Aid

The Ohio Highway Department plans winter construction of bridges in Clermont County with a total estimated outlay of about 37 000 dollars. Contracts awarded December 18 will begin after procurement and local labor priority, with completion set for spring 1982 except certain channel work. The work includes a 36 foot span on Route 50 over Sugar Camp Run, another over Dry Run, and one over Stone Lick Run. A second contract covers a Camp's Run slab bridge and a Lorado Run box culvert, totaling around 16 604 dollars. Local applicants are urged to inquire in the paper for details.

Williamsburg weighs home control in light plant franchise

The Williamsburg Town Council considers renewing the ream franchise with 8 O P L Co and private consumers backing home management and ownership. A 25 year franchise was requested with reductions offered, but no agreement. Bethel plant representatives present as Batavia’s franchise hearing is pending.

Car Jumps Into Purchase Incident Near Batavia

Mrs T Smith of River Road Batavia was in Tom Danberry's candy department when her Ford jumped a 12 inch curb and crashed into a show window. The driver backed out narrowly missing another car. Damage estimated near 100 dollars to the building plus car damage.

DeCamp Hauss Nuptials In Batavia Norfolk Ohio

Miss Carol H DeCamp of Batavia wed David R Hauss on November 24 at 9 p.m. The bride wore a sunset colored gown trimmed with brown velvet and carried ferns and rose buds. Attendants were T L DeCamp and Edth DeCamp. Rev Cherrington officiated. The couple left for a Maple Apartment in Norwood. Cincinnati librarians hosted a shower in her honor and Trinity church youths also honored her.
