The Clermont County Commissioners hired Fred Montgomery of Bethel as director of utilities effective Sept 1. He will oversee plant and field operations of the Water and Sewer Systems and coordinate extensions and maintenance. Walter G. Community Leader William Parsons Dies at 64
William Parsons, 64, a Batavia businessman and community leader, died August 22 at Jewish Hospital Cincinnati after a heart attack two days earlier. Services were held Friday at Monterey Baptist Church. He owned and managed the Ben Franklin Store on Main Street for 30 years and helped lead local groups including the Batavia Village Council, Batavia Businessmen's Association, Batavia Development Corp, and Batavia Ridge Club. Parsons was a Mt Vernon, Kentucky native survived by wife Ruth and children Rex and William, with siblings and grandchildren listed. Burial followed at Batavia Cemetery with Moore Funeral Home in charge.

UC appoints Zaferes as assistant registrar at Clermont College
Ass't Registrar Thomas P. Zaferes, a June UC graduate from McMicken College, will join UC's Clermont General and Technical College near Batavia. The new campus opens in September offering associate degrees in arts and sciences. Zaferes, English major, is Norwood High School alumni living at 2232 Glenside Ave.

Fair Board Treasurer Marvin Sprague and County Agent Robert Sutton report rising attendance and exhibitor activity at the 1972 Clermont County Fair. Membership tickets admitted two, totaling 900, up from 679 in 1971, with 120 exhibitor tickets sold. Junior Fair included 57 4 H clubs and 730 members plus 30 vocational agriculture members and 362 Boy Scouts. Girl Scout numbers unavailable.
