Court Cuts Penalty In Auto Deaths

Forest G. Keel, 21, son of Forrest Keel of Batavia, was sent to the Cincinnati Workhouse for six months on vehicular homicide while two children, Kimberly Tracy and Steven Tibbs, were victims. Keel was released after serving one third of the sentence and placed on two years probation with a two year license suspension. Common Pleas Judge John W. Keefe had previously suspended the license for three years after the incident on Columbia Parkway in August 1971.

Air Tour Promotes Area Conservation in Clermont County

The Clermont Soil and Water Conservation District hosts a Conservation Air Tour on Sept. 10 at Clermont County Airport Batavia with rain date Sept. 17. Flights run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on two 40 mile routes over development sites including the Batavia UC branch, I-275, and Clermont County Hospital.

State Opens Closed Roads After Relocations

State Highway officials announced that SR 132 between Batavia and Owensville and SR 222 south of Batavia were opened to traffic Friday afternoon. The routes were relocated to remove dangerous curves on SR 132 and to bypass a slippage area along the East Fork of the Little Miami River on SR 222.

Man Charged With Illegal Bank Entry

Richard Lang Jr. 35 was arrested Thursday morning and charged with breaking and entering the Clermont National Bank at Main and Garfield in Milford. He is held on a $5,000 bond. Patrolman Dwight Cooke along with Chief Earl Konrad and Milford police responded after a burglar alarm at 4 15 a.m. Entry was gained by breaking a window. The bank sustained minor damage. Lang listed several addresses including Portsmouth, Ohio, as officials verify the correct one.

New Richmond High imposes ten day suspensions on 47 boys

Forty seven New Richmond High School boys receive ten day suspensions for continued dress code violations focusing on head and facial hair. Officials say warnings were issued last week and suspensions began after Labor Day when students returned to school without compliance, with parents notified by letter.

Dale to Head Area Program for Retarded Children

Gilbert Dale 43 of Milford will become administrator of Clermont County's program for retarded children effective Sept 18. He comes from five years as chief probation officer in Juvenile Court and will replace John Mackey, who resigns but stays until Sept 30. Police Praise Milford Hills Boys for Flagging Marijuana Field

Milford Township police credited four local boys aged 11 to 15 for locating a marijuana patch behind 695 Milford Hills Dr toward McClelland Rd. They reported the plants after a school drug education class helped them identify the weed. Officer Stamper arrived Sunday and destroyed the remaining five plants. the gardener remains unknown.

King Kwik Store Charged For Sale

King Kwik Minit Market at 1058 St. Rt. 28 Milford was charged by the Ohio State Liquor Control Commission for selling malt liquor to a minor on May 5 1972. A seven day license suspension was ordered but execution extended to May 4 1973 if no further violations occur. A second charge of furnishing malt liquor to a minor on the same day followed.

UC Clermont College plans a Sept. 25 opening for its Clermont General and Technical College near Batavia. Registration runs Sept. 18–22 with hours varied by day, orientation Sept. 21, and a Dean Peters Q&A session Sept. 8, 11, 13 and 15.

Glen Este Man Dies In Crash

Redman lost control of a vehicle near the Airport Playfield tennis courts and the car burst into flames. Two people were trapped and extricated, taken to General Hospital. The driver of the mobile home was uninjured. Services were held for Redmon and family members. A separate state revenue report notes Clermont County motor tax receipts of 292582.69 and August school subsidies of 843521.54.
