James Lathrop and William Parsons Die In Ohio Area

James E Lathrop 46 of 3856 Crescent Dr Williamsville died Aug 15 at Bethesda Hospital after a long illness. Services were held at E C Nurre Funeral Home Amelia with burial Mt Moriah Cemetery. Survived by wife Ann Ralston Lothrop and two children. Former editor of Amelia Star Review, he worked with Tekulve Lothrop Barreau law firm. Contributions to Clermont County Unit American Cancer Society. William Parsons 401 Diana Ave Batavia died Tuesday at Jewish Hospital from a heart attack. Parsons was village councilman for many terms and charter member of Batavia Businessmen’s Association born from local store area that grew over time.

Mayor seeks governor's help in parking dispute

The Ohio Department of Highways demands immediate removal of Main St parking between Fifth and Front Streets in Williamsburg to allow future improvements. Mayor Donald G. Hiler plans to seek Governor John Gilligan's intervention after division 8 engineer J. L. Oswald cited a 1966 ordinance and warned deck replacement on the East Fork bridge cannot proceed without parking changes. The dispute, described by the mayor as harassment lasting nine weeks, threatens bridge work and town progress.

Local Pharmacist Dies at Batavia Cemetery Services

Madelene Blocher mother of Linda a nurse at Children's Hospital and Sally a pharmaceutical technician at University Hospital Columbus, sister Mrs R S Baker of Franklin Ohio. Mr Blocher born Bethel son of Alva and Rhoda Blocher. He opened a Batavia Main and Market pharmacy in 1937 later sold in 1968. He semi retired aiding Smith Pharmacy Williamsburg.
