The Clermont County Teachers Institute gathers in Felicity this week with many teachers attends and a strong program. Accommodations are generous as Felicity residents host guests. Burke bill limits truck loads to ten tons on state roads

Truck owners were warned that the Burke act, taking effect September 5, caps total vehicle weight at ten tons including load and sets tire width and axle limits. The rules also specify speed limits for solid and pneumatic tires, seasonal load reductions, and penalties for road damage. A church lawn fete and candy sale are planned in Owensville on September 5.

Death of Judge O P Griffith Leaves Clermont Community

Judge O P Griffith died at home after nearly two years of illness. A prominent Democrat, he served as prosecutor and probate judge for two terms, was a Clermont attorney with many clients, and was an active member of the M E church and I C C F lodge. Survived by a widow, two children, two brothers and two sisters, he was born in Batavia, son of J B Griffith. Funeral from his residence Tuesday with burial in Union cemetery.

Clermont Bar Association Meets at Batavia Court House

An open Clermont Bar Association gathering is set for Tuesday evening at 7 30 in the Batavia Court House. Resolutions will address Judge C P Griffith and Louis Hicks. The public is invited. Frank Weaver Buried in Batavia.

Delightful Lewis Family Reunion Near Amelia

The Lewis family held a large reunion at the old home near Amelia on Thursday August 18 honoring 65 years of marriage. Mr Lewis is 883 years old and Mrs Lewis is 75. The event drew 22 grandchildren and five great grandchildren with a day of music speeches and reminiscences. Several relatives attended including ministers of the M E church and guests from Cincinnati Indianapolis New Vienna and Ely Oregon.

Best in State at Camp Perry encampment honors awarded

Company I of Williamsburg wins the honors at Camp Perry with the best company title and a $60 prize. Company G of Hillsboro finishes a close second.

Obituary for Sarah B Hartman of Monterey and Williamsburg

Sarah B Hartman born July 1 18 percent in Chester county Pa died August 12 1921 aged 95 years 1 month and 11 days. She moved to Ohio at 18 joined Williamsburg Presbyterian at 17 and later Monterey charter member. Married James M Hartman June 1800 and had five daughters. Her husband and youngest daughter Lilly preceded her. She leaves four daughters a son-in-law and many relatives. Reverend of Williamoburg preaches.

Prizes on Jersey Cattle Awarded at Hamilton County Fair

At the Hamilton County Fair last week Anustal donors were awarded by Schwerick's Rose Hill Farm in Mt. Carmel near Newtown. Schwenck exhibited seven animals earning six prizes including one Sweepstakes Championship Prize three First Prizes and two Second Prizes. Jolly's Reward No 166467 a four year old bull won the Sweepstakes Prize among twelve bulls and had prior honors at Utah State Fair 1918 and Ohio State Fair 1919. The farm also shows Julie's Noble Raleigh and other descendants, plus Poland China Hogs led by Ohio Gerstdale Jones. Schwenck promotes breeding better stock with low prices on young sires and boars, all stock registered.

Boston Fair Declared A Successful Exhibition

Heavy rains and muddy roads did not dampen turnout at the Boston Fair with visitors from Middletown Dayton Columbus and other cities. The agricultural hall displayed crops schoolwork and live stock while racing drew strong crowds. calls were made to gravel drives and improve grounds for next year.

County Commissioners Seat Sets Budgets and Coal Bids

In a special August 15 session commissioners vetted payments to numerous vendors including nails, lumber, bridge repairs, and stone, and approved the depository bond for First National Bank Batavia. They awarded coal contracts to H M Rice and Mrs Longworth and directed plans for Wayne township drainage. Edgar Mosbacher, a Twin Bridges farmer, suffered a severe jaw fracture after a horse incident and was hospitalized for X rays.

Rebekah Lodge Holds District School of Instruction

The Batavia Rebekah lodge hosted a district school of instruction with grand officers in attendance. Ohio Rebekah Assembly leaders Mrs. Josephine Short Mrs. Emma M Bell and Mrs. E Jeanette Moorehead offered lessons. John Brothers injured after a fall from a cherry tree and is in hospital with a broken jaw.

Tragic Death Touches Batavia and Dayton Community

John C. Dustin of Batavia born September 15, 1902 in Batavia Ohio died unexpectedly while living in Dayton. He studied dentistry and worked as a mechanical dentist for the Dental Supply Company. Services were held by former pastors Wilson and Burdsall with music by Misses Jeffries and Walker. Burial followed in Batavia.

Death of George W. Male. Civil War veteran and family man

George W. Male, born April 11, 1888 in Phillips West Virginia, died August 15, 1921 in Monterey Ohio after paralysis earlier in 1920. He moved from Columbus to Washington County and later to Monterey, survived by two children L. W. Male and Mrs. Curtis Hale, and several siblings. He served in the first and tenth Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

Calf Club Exhibit Dazzles at Clermont County Fair

The calf club display by Farm Bureau members drew strong interest at the county fair. Eighteen Jersey calves aged 10 to 16 months, all purchased from Clermont county breeders, were shown by their young owners. The event highlighted the club work’s impact on farming conditions in Clermont.
