Williamstown man dies from stab wounds in Clermont clash
The Clermont County Grand Jury was summoned by Prosecuting Attorney Frank A. Roberts for Thursday Sept 7. Clyde Lawrence Woods, 24, of Williamsburg, died at Bethesda Hospital after a stabbing at Club 188 between Williamsburg and Bethel on Aug 19. Joshua Cole, 34, is jailed on $1000 bond as the alleged assailant. Cole and Woods fought, Cole reportedly stabbed Woods twice. Cole's wife Osie, brother Jess, and nephew Basil were arrested. Williamsburg schools will not begin before Sept 11 due to building conditions from recent additions. Prominent Brown County Jurist Dies Suddenly at 73
Funeral services for Judge J. G. Quinlan, a Brown County Probate and Juvenile court jurist, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Georgetown Church of Christ. He died Saturday night of a heart attack while preparing to enter his study at home after months of illness. Quinlan, born in Brown County, educated at Eureka College and Northwestern University, served as Georgetown superintendent of schools, contributed to newspapers, joined the Probate Court bench in 1933, and remained active in civic and ministerial work. He leaves a widow Ella Hill Quinlan, three sons Joseph A Wilkinsburg Pa Richard Verne Cincinnati Edgar E Georgetown, an adopted granddaughter Eloise Quinlan, two brothers, and three sisters, with eight grandchildren.

The portable lab will be at four sites on September 5 and 6 to test lime phosphorus and potash needs, with immediate recommendations for each field. Samuel Curlis Arrested on Affidavit Charge
Samuel Curlis, 45, of Williamsburg, was arrested Saturday night by Deputy Sheriff Frank Perry and Williams burg marshal Paris Turner on a wife beating affidavit signed by his wife. He appeared before Justice John McKeever, pled not guilty, and was bound over to the Grand Jury under a $200 bond. Reported to be Curlis's second offense.

Beacon line aids night pilots across Clermont and Brown counties
The Civil Aeronautics Authority erects 75 foot high beacons on a 16 mile spaced line from Washington D C to Cincinnati to guide night flights. The Clermont County beacon sits on Allen Boles farm near State Route 222 and will illuminate Sept 1 with rotating and stationary lights. Electric power comes from Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co.

Goshen Man Wins Grand American Trapshooting Handicap
Dwight L. Ritchie of Goshen, a left handed store keeper, won the Grand American National Trapshooting Handicap in Vandalia Ohio. He broke 99 of 100 at 22 yards to tie the record then cracked 22 of 25 in the shoot off. Wagner of Dayton led 138 shots before faltering to lose by one. Ritchie is the first southpaw to win the title and preserves Ohio’s top place for a third straight year.
