Clermont County Fair Ends With New Records And Board Change
The 91st Clermont County Fair closed last Friday setting records with 11 657 general admissions and 417 membership badges. Rain reduced attendance Friday yet other days drew strong crowds and officials praised cooperation. Membership badge holders elected directors. Dr Allan B Rapp withdrew and Arnold Anstaett joined. Horse show winners included George Liggett West Union top draft and grand champion, A S Kline and Son Greenfield foremost draft mares and foals, and Wade Woodworth Cincinnati taking top pony and riding honors.

In Clermont County Baseball League play, Owensville Hamersville and Williamsville were eliminated after their third loss. Bethel Batavia and Mt Crab remained undefeated as Batavia beat Goshen 10 9 in eleven innings. Newtonsville upset Owensville 8 5 and New Hope beat Hamersville 5 0.

The Clermont County Junior Fair drew a record turnout with more than 1,500 exhibits including calves hogs sheep poultry clothing food farm shop vegetables and fruit. About 58 4-H clubs and over 100 boys and girls participated with health winners Carl Conover Edenton and Miss Jenny Crist Milford named.

Clermont County Cattle Bangs Disease Testing Underway
More than 90 percent of Clermont County cattle owners signed petitions backing Bangs disease testing. Start dates varied by township from August 14 to August 21 with federal veterinarians conducting tests in Miami Wayne Goshen and Stonelick townships. Testing progresses north to south and becomes compulsory only after 90 percent coverage. About 1870 herd owners with 12,603 cattle have signed.

Fraud Charged Against Compiler Of Clermont Rural Mail Directory
E. McPherson of Cincinnati, an advertising salesman and compiler of Clermont County Rural Mail Directory, was arrested and arraigned for fraudulent collection of funds. An affidavit by Harry Kahle accuses him of taking $25 on Dec 22, 1938 for a directory never published. The court granted a continuance to arrange publication.
