A campaign task force will begin the United Appeal for 7 005 437 to fund 125 health welfare and youth agencies of the Community Chest and 16 Red Cross services. Chairman Mark Upson frames the goal as the minimum to sustain essential services with a seven week drive ending Oct 24.
The Goshen Board of Education meets Wednesday night to choose a replacement for the vacancy created by Joseph Steele Jr. Proposals from Lloyd Floyd and John Davis on Harvey Hines face opposition from Thomas Heywood and Dr. Paul Ward who backed John White. The board also debates approval of Phillip Adkins and Ray Hern amid broader personnel disagreements influencing superintendent Robert Gower’s position.
Carey W. Thompson announces 1962 Agri cultural Stabilization and Conservation committee nominees. Ballots mailed to eligible voters due Sept. 5. election tops three regular members and two alternates with the county convention Sept. 14 at 9 am. Eligibility decided by county committee with state appeal. Read list names of nominees including Allen, Trown, Clark, Clausen, Conover, Grosnickle, Hutchinson, Stahl, Stroub, White, Widmer, and many others.
Clyde Dial of Batavia served as co chair of the Cincinnati Archdiocesan picnic held August 26 at Fort Scott. The event drew single adults over 18 for a volleyball tournament among seven deaneries, Olympic track and field events, swimming, and a fireside sing along followed by a dance with recorded music.
The Williamsburg village council passed rules regulating house trailers and licensing for trailer parks. One trailer per lot is required with minimum frontage and depth, and acreage lots must be at least 5060 square feet. Trailers cannot sit on lots with homes, must be set back from lines and other structures, and require permits. Parks need sanitary approval, a $500 annual license, and compliance with sanitary codes. Violations incur fines of 10 to 50 dollars per offense, with each day counting as a separate offense.
In 1962 63 Ohio State Bar Association standing and special committees members include area lawyers Harold D. Nichols and Russell F. Speidel of Batavia and John L. Watson of Williamsburg. Appointed by President Lawrence Burns on Ralph E. Clark Jr. recommendation these local attorneys join 1 100 plus peers on 49 committees meeting Sep 14 15 and again in March 1963 to study legislation reform bar activities and continuing legal education to improve Ohio justice administration.
H J Swaton aged 40 of 110 Dickerson Street received 120 years for forgery and 10 years for grand larceny to run concurrently after pleading guilty January 4, 1961 and recent parole violation led to the sentence. He was returned from South Dakota for parole violation. Clermont County health board revoked Laurel landfill license owned by Cincinnati waste. Rumpke must cover exposed garbage and clean ravine within 30 days or board will do the work and charge the cost to the property. Residents called it unhealthy. some plan to use another Hamilton County landfill for disposal. An incinerator plan at Laurel was urged to be abandoned.
The first Clermont County school nursing conference was held at the D X Ranch in Mt. Holly, sponsored by the Clermont County Board of Health with help from the State Health Department. Dr. Albert W. Van Sickle opened with objectives, and Miss Lillian Derflinger outlined coordinated nursing requirements.
The Clermont County Heart Council will meet at the Presbyterian Church Batavia at 8 pm on August 28. Dr. F S Skeen urges the public to attend for a question and answer session and a social hour to meet physicians and attendees.
Gordon Harrison of Anderson Township resigns from Central Trust Bank after 11 years in the trust department to pursue the Methodist ministry. He will study at Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston Illinois and has preached his first sermon at Moriah Community Methodist Church.

Judge John W. Keefe of the First District Court of Appeals sits with his wife Ruth and their four sons and twin daughters in a family portrait. The Clermont Hamilton Butler Clinton and Warren Counties court serves a wide region and Keefe, 47, has over eight years on the bench since joining the Court of Appeals in 1961 after serving in municipal court and prior legal posts.
