John Friend Jr former Clermont County treasurer died of a heart attack at noon Wednesday at Christ Hospital after visiting his wife Cathryn H Friend who had been a patient there for weeks. He lived at 5 Broadway Batavia and worked as a photographer for the Clermont Sun for about a year. He is survived by two sons John a Columbus TV photographer and Ronnie a forest ranger in California plus several grandchildren. Also reported improved is former county official Earle B Kincaid who suffered a ruptured aorta last Friday and underwent surgery at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital then transferred to Cincinnati General Hospital The blood appeal was reportedly successful.

Local Youths Die In Tragic Mishaps
Two local youths died in separate accidents this week. Kenneth Craycraft, 18, of Amelia, was killed when his car skidded on a rain slick street and crashed into a tractor trailer near Lakehurst Naval Air Station where he was stationed. His 13 year old neighbor William King also perished in the crash. Craig O Dell, 12, son of Dr. and Mrs Carson O Dell of Lang Road near Milford, was electrocuted Wednesday evening after contacting a high tension wire while climbing a tree. He was found by playmates and a neighbor, but efforts to revive him failed. he would have started seventh grade at Milford school this year.
