The Ninety-Second Clermont County Fair closed after a four day showing of stock and farm produce. Attendance topped 5 000 on Wednesday 10 000 on Thursday and 7 000 on Friday amid strong exhibits though drought affected produce. Two accidents marred the event lightning struck a horse stall injuring Star Nutonia a four year old gelding and James Ashcraft was seriously hurt in a sulky collision. Winners included James Shinkle Clarence Peters A F Kline Sons and many horse and livestock entries across multiple classes. Gem stones classification described as translucent and opaque in the end.

Chest Clinic to Be Held Friday in Clermont County
A chest clinic for study and conference on lung diseases will be at the Clermont County Board of Health offices in Batavia on Friday August 23. Dr. D W Heusinkveld of Cincinnati will read X ray plates from the County Health Department and may schedule limited physical exams and personal conferences with Clermont County physicians. Batavia Girl Shot Saturday By Accidental Gun Discharge
Lois Monjar nine, daughter of Ralph and Mrs. Monjar, was wounded in the right leg by a shotgun blast that went through a kitchen door jam at her Batavia home. The gun was fired while being cleaned, the incident reportedly followed a family dispute. Leonard Monjar was jailed but no charges filed by Sunday.

Roy Scott, 31, of Cincinnati, slashed his left wrist with a safety razor in Clermont county jail about 2:30 Friday but failed to sever arteries. He was treated by Dr. G. S. Van Horn and held on two indictments for cutting with intent to kill stemming from an attack on his former wife and Jacob Grisham in Williamsburg July 28. His trial was set for Sept 11.

Calvins and Malott Children Die in Pool Tragedy
Funeral services were held for Robert and Susanna Calvin aged 9 and 11 and Ethel Malott age 7 at the J. Isaac Maham Funeral Home in Williamsburg. They drowned Saturday afternoon when Robert slipped on the dam wall and fell into the 5 foot pool below the waterworks dam. County Coroner Sam White reported the three were walking with Mrs. Stanley Calvin when they crossed the wall and the girls attempted to help Robert as Mrs. Calvin sought assistance. The bodies were recovered by Mr. Calvin and burial occurred in Williamsburg cemetery.
