Milford boy drowns while fishing at Matson's Rocks
A twelve year old, Peter Baines, drowned while fishing with other youths at Matson's Rocks on the Little Miami River in Milford. He fell into a deep pool at about two o clock and was found late that evening. The acting coroner Mayor Conrad ordered an inquest and ruled accidental drowning.

Francis Nichols of Monterey Dies in 16th Year
Francis Nichols of Monterey died at his home on Saturday morning in the 17th year of age. He was listed among the aged in a past Courier issue and was the oldest man in Jackson township. Born July 1808 in Lorain near Verdun, he later served as local customs collector and emigrated here, living peacefully until death. He leaves a widow, several children and grandchildren. Interment was in Hartman’s Cemetery last Sunday.
