State Auditor Roger W Tracy announced 1962 intangible taxes collected totaled $36 757 527 with libraries receiving $26 820 198. The statewide distribution showed libraries getting $72 84 per $100, while Clermont County allotted libraries $113 408 of $122 854 total, and municipalities $7 301 443 statewide fell to $315 189 for schools and park districts. Holmes County led at 99 94 percent with nine other counties near 99 75 percent.

Mt Carmel Girl Injured In Night Car Crash Pole
Amelia Patricia Ann Nichols, 19, of 545 Sonny Lane Mt Carmel, was injured at 2 30 am Saturday when her car hit a utility pole at Amelia Olive Branch and Lucy Run Roads a quarter mile north of Route 125. She had facial and forearm lacerations abrasions to both knees and possible chest injuries. BMOP Life Squad transported her to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. State Patrolman W E Brownlee cited her for defective headlights after stating the car headlights were out while she drove south with parking lights on.

Clermont County schools announce a September 4 opening with varying start and end times by district. Tuesday September 3 teacher meetings with principals and local executives precede the term. Local Man Helps Design New Safety Insignia
Herbert Bogert of Afton Elklick Road helped design a new safety emblem for slow moving vehicles. The triangular aluminum sign uses fluorescent orange with red border and headlights to aid daytime visibility and nighttime recognition. Bogert says it is for highway use only and aims to become a national standard adopted by safety groups and the Ohio Farm and Home Safety Committee in cooperation with Ohio State University College of Culture.
