County OKs Sale of Water Bonds

Clermont County commissioners ordered fiscal agent Charles Conners to negotiate the sale of 2.54 million dollars in revenue bonds to fund the Miami Goshen Stonelick water system. Plans include cast iron and cement asbestos pipe and new elevated tanks at Mt Repose and Owensville.

Welfare department reimbursed for admin costs

The Federal government reimbursed Wayne County Welfare Department $11,000 for administrative expenses drawn from the general relief fund. Wayne Oney, welfare director, reported the reimbursement.

Crash Victim Dies Of Heart Attack Near Batavia

Coroner A. A. Gruber ruled a heart attack caused the death of August Gibbenmeyer of Batavia after his car went through a guard rail on Rt. 131 and plunged into Stonelick Creek. Workmen found the body near the car at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. death time was set between 11 p.m. and midnight Monday into Tuesday.

Bids Sought for Cemetery Dwelling at Mt Moriah Tabasco

Union township trustees advertise for bids to build a six room brick house on Mt Moriah Cemetery grounds in Tabasco. The caretaker will reside there and operate an office. Tests Slated In Hoax Call Case

A 15 year old Pierce township youth who admitted making hoax calls to frighten Mrs. Marjorie Hughs of Batavia appeared in Juvenile Court Tuesday. The case was continued and final disposition will come in about 10 days after psychologist testing. He admitted summoning morticians real estate men auto repair men and merchandise to the Hughes home but denied reporting the deaths of Batavia Police Chief Ed Colonel Sheriff Clyde Dericks and Batavia mortician Louis Moore.

Richard F. Moore of Batavia has been named manager of the new self service Woolworth store in Cherry Grove Plaza. The three day opening begins September 8. Moore, 39, a Wittenberg College graduate and World War II veteran, has 9.5 years of store management experience with Woolworth stores in New Castle Indiana Portsmouth Ohio and Toledo Ohio. He and his wife Francine have two children. The Cherry Grove store features three checkout counters a 30 stool luncheonette air conditioning expanded departments including footwear casual furniture lamp and shade piece goods record drapery horticulture and pet sections and a vast array of framed pictures and wall decorations.

County Triplets First For Lady Of Mercy Hospital

Triplets born Sunday Aug 23 at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Mariemont to Hiram and George Ellis of Goshen Rt. 1. A boy weighed 6 lb 1 oz and two girls 4 lb 1 oz and 2 lb 7 oz. Hospital says triplets occur once in 6,000 births and these are the hospital’s first.

Plumbers Balk At High Permit Fees In Clermont

Clermont County Plumbers Association met on August 17 at its new social club home to discuss permit charges. Clyde Frank reported Clermont fees of 3 per fixture unit and 7 for a cistern, compared with Norwood 1 per unit and Hamilton County 2. Plumbers argued the cistern fee is unfair since they do not install or service cisterns, and the group planned legal action to protect homeowners builders and plumbers, though the issue was tabled to the next meeting.
