Workmen laid the first concrete for the four lane Rt 74 relocation from Batavia to Willowville. Pouring started in front of the Farm Bureau property at Batavia's west edge, reaching the hill foot as complex machinery draws motorists for a closer look. Daniel Denton 37 of Riverside Buyer shopping guide co publisher drowned while swimming the Ohio River at Pt Pleasant. Funeral services held at Cincinnati Hillside Chapel Crematorium. Denton survived by his mother Elsa Kennedy and father Daniel Denton. His body was recovered after a river swim near the Ohio shore with a crew of volunteers and deputies aiding the search.
The Diehl Pump and Supply Co of Cincinnati informed county commissioners that test pumping of a well for the Miami Goshen Stonelick water system will begin Tuesday. Drilling of three wells on the Pearl Hoban property near Miamiville began Monday. The wells will serve 68 miles of lines and more than 2300 consumers.
