Young Man Drowns in Ohio River Accident

Howard Wadell twenty four year old man died after his motor boat overturned or sank while returning home from Pt Pleasant to Moscow. Deputies Hutchinson and Bissantz led the search using a house boat. the body was found by picnickers near New Richmond and later delivered to the Lew F White Memorial Funeral Home. Coroner Allan B Rapp ruled it accidental death and burial occurred in Cincinnati.

Eight-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Stonelick

Eight-year-old Donald Henneycutt, son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Henneycutt, drowned in Stonelick Creek near Goshen after being in water for about three hours. He was found in four and a half feet of water by Clifford Raper. Dr AVF Basinger and Deputy Sheriff Marvin Bissantz assisted in the revival attempt. He is survived by his parents, a brother Ernest Jr and three sisters. Bruce Clarke sustained serious injuries in a Route 125 auto crash between Amelia and Williamsville. treated by Dr Paul Baurichter and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati.

4 H Clubs Shine at County Fair with Large Showings

About 500 4 H youths took part in Junior Fair activities. Over 300 sewing projects were displayed in the 4 H building and roughly 200 girls attended the Saturday style show on Aug 21. Numerous livestock, dairy and crop classes awarded many trophies and prizes to top exhibitors and showmanship winners.

Kennel Club Members Meet at Winalesby in Batavia

Cincinnati Kennel Club members gathered at Winalesby at the invitation of Rev and Mrs F B Atkinson of Batavia for an informal reception and puppy show. About 30 to 40 members attended to view fine puppies of several breeds with Mrs Atkinson as judge. Best sporting group puppy was a black Cocker Spaniel owned by Mrs Morris. best non sporting was a Dalmatian owned by Mr John H Schulte. best terrier was a Miniature Schnauzer owned by Mr O Donnell. best Toy was a Miniature Manchester owned by Mrs Eric Meyer of Milford. Best Puppy in March awarded to the Cocker amid applause. Tea and coffee were served as guests visited the grounds.

Cruiser Hits Car In Round Bottom Road Collision

Sunday evening a police cruiser driven by Hamilton County Deputy Sheriff collided with the car of Mr and Mrs Roland Scales at Round Bottom Road and YMCA Road. The Scales escaped serious injury while deputies Donald Shank and William Betz were treated at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont.

Campers Reunion Set for Sunday at Owensville Fairgrounds

The Clermont County Y. P. D. Campers Reunion is scheduled for Sunday at the Owensville Fairgrounds starting at 2 p.m. A picnic supper will be served at 5 p.m. Vesper services occur at 7 p.m. followed by a campfire. Attendees include campers from Beechwood Valley View Woodland Park Owensville Lake Allyn and Epworth Heights plus Trailblazers leaders instructors friends and families.

Speedboats to Race Sept 12 Near Coney Island

The Ohio Valley Motorboat Racing Association will host national championships on Sunday September 12. Races across several speedboat classes will be held at the Yacht Club above Coney Island, sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association. Commodore J Clyde Fox of Cincinnati heads arrangements.

Lattin moves to St Louis to become a Southwestern Bell VP. Fred R. Eckley and Fred D. Learey receive new VP and general commercial manager duties. Joseph born in Marathon, educated at Ohio Wesleyan and Western Reserve, joined Ohio Bell in 1929 climbing to assistant vice president in 1937.

New Secretary Named For Upper Clough Civic Club

Dorothy L. Woods resigns as secretary after two weeks in Bethesda Hospital. Herbert Jeffries is appointed to fill the vacancy. A. Caldwell, recently hospitalized, resumes duties as vice president. County Schools Open on Tuesday September 7

Clermont County schools plan to reopen on Sept. 7 after Labor Day with remodels at Batavia Felicity Franklin Mt. Carmel Glen Este and new teachers joining several faculties. Batavia opens 9 05 am half day with vaccinations required for returning students. First graders may register Sept 3 with birth certificates required.

Revival close at Bantam church plans continue

Following the closing of revival services at the Christian Holiness Assembly Church in Bantam, plans were laid to continue services. Sunday School is set for 10 a m each Sunday, evangelistic services at 11 a m, and a prayer meeting at 8 p m on Wednesday. Bethel Dalton is pastor of the new church.

New Richmond Brikcrete Plant Expands Local Industry

The Courier notes a second Brikcrete plant is to open soon at New Richmond on Route 52, under Ohio Brikcrete Co. Robert Gilfillen manages the operation established about Jan. 1, 1948, shipping materials to Clermont County and nearby towns.

Record Attendance Marks 99th Clermont County Fair

The 99th Clermont County Fair closed Saturday with a near 20 000 attendance. Thursday drew about 6000 paid admissions and the grandstand parade lasted 70 minutes. A F Kayser of the fair board notes it was the largest crowd yet and visitors praised the newly painted buildings and paved driveways.
