Community pieces note Kyle Moyer building a boat and needing fishing to recoup costs. Upper Clough Civic Club plans a Labor Day two day picnic signaling a budding group. Milford Newtown and Batavia communities muse on chambers of commerce attracting shoppers and business growth.
Last Saturday morning near Mt. Zion Ohio a head on collision between Henry DeMaris and Frank Moer tle wrecked both cars. Moertle is hospitalized at The Christ Hospital with a broken arm and shock while DeMaris is at Lloyd Wests home with three broken ribs and bruises.
The first annual picnic and outing of the newly formed Upper Clough Civic Club is set for September 5 and 6 on Glen Este Road between Clough Pike and Ohio Pike. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided. officers are George Weber, Al Caldwell, Nick Stozic, and Dorothy L Woods.
Brickcrete, a cement and sand brick with color, will be produced at a Camp Dennison facility and a second plant near New Richmond on State Route 52. Fred Linder is manager. Howard G. Rabe is president. The cold process requires no heating. 3,000 bricks daily with six workers. Three demonstration houses on Nagle Road show the product to builders.
The First Baptist Church of New Richmond sponsors open air services on the Felicity town lot starting Monday night August 23 at 8 p.m. Rev. Chas Harrison of New Richmond will be the speaker and all residents nearby are invited to attend.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Shannon of Tabasco announce the birth of twin daughters born Friday August 13 the girls named Margaret June and Marilyn Jean
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home Batavia for Dr Miles J Scott who died after injuries from a fall at his home. He practiced in Batavia for years and is survived by his widow and two daughters Nancy and Mary.
Nancy Wilson, daughter of Mrs. Rachel Wilson of Loveland, is recovering from burns after her dress caught fire while playing with matches. She was taken to Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati.
Mrs Allen E Browning of Wilmington a former Batavia resident will be buried in Batavia cemetery Thursday after services at her Wilmington home. She is survived by one son two daughters and one sister.
Amelia area residents and others gathered to oppose a proposed financing method for a new water district. The County Water Administration plans to raise about 750000 for dam and plant work, with owners paying 4.26 per front foot. Tom Dix urged caution, citing lack of committee consultation and considering a private company option.
New granddaughter Helen Marie is welcomed by Mr and Mrs R T Gump of Hicksville Ohio born August 12 Mrs Gump is daughter of Mr and Mrs George Richards of Defiance Ohio and the baby’s great grandmother is Mrs Clara Richards of Batavia Ohio
A noted column presents a baby snapshot unclothed in a lighthearted loot. The child is the daughter of Carl Sizemore and his wife of Mt. Washington and the granddaughter of Jane Dolan of Batavia Rt 2.
Monday evening fire damaged the home of Ray Johnson near Amelia to about 3500 dollars. Firefighters from Amelia laid 2000 feet of hose to draw water from a pond on a neighboring farm and saved part of the building after Mrs. Johnson found fire in the attic and summoned James Gabriel next door.
The 99th Clermont County Fair opened with all exhibit space taken. Theodore Davis of Mt. Carmel demonstrates broom making at a booth sponsored by the Fair Board, Batavia Rotary Club, and Clermont Courier. Governors’ greetings praise Ohio agriculture and fair cooperation, noting Garden Club displays and upcoming horse shows and harness races.
Amelia hosts Knothole events next Sunday August 2 with a 12 pm basket picnic and two baseball games on the Amelia grounds. Amelia Dairy Champions of Class O meet an all star team, while Amelia Hall's Grocery champions of Class B face another all star squad. A 15 event field meet follows and Mt Carmel Class A meets an all star team from Meckstroth.
