Paul M. Blocher 36 a Batavia druggist sustained serious injuries after his car skidded on a wet Davis Hill on Route 132. The vehicle vaulted a culvert and rolled 70 feet. He remained conscious and was treated at Dr Skeen’s office before being moved to Christ Hospital.
A formal exhortation urges Americans to persuade war plant workers who strike to return to duty. It warns that prolonged stoppages threaten victory as draft or jail could follow for defiers, echoing Wilsonian measures and urging swift action before more soldiers die.

Farmers may order now and receive credit for 1943 materials. fertilizer usable on most fields except small grain seedings.
Rain postponed all County League games last Sunday. The same schedule will be played this Sunday with Bethel at Georgetown, Hdenton at Williamsburg, and New Richmond at Mt. Orab.
In Clermont County a Sunday evening crash on Route 52 near Point Pleasant killed 42 year old Lee Huron of Cincinnati as his car struck a truck. His wife sustained severe head injuries and was taken to a Cincinnati hospital. The truck driver Richard Carpenter of Mays Lick escaped injury. Deputy Sheriff Joe Colonel reported the victim appeared blinded by truck lights and rammed the rear of the oncoming vehicle. Coroner Sam White confirmed decapitation and instantaneous death.
The North Union Township Civilian Defense Council sponsors a picnic and basket supper on Sunday August 30 at Sargent's Grove Tealtown Road Glen Este. Activities start at 2 p.m. with a softball game between teams led by Carl Ludlow and Harry Snell. Refreshments served. Everyone invited to bring a basket supper and join the fun.

Notices sent to Inter-County Rural Electric Cooperative members in Hillsboro Ohio urge attendance at a special meeting to move the office to Greenfield. Trustees from Ross and Fayette counties sponsor the change citing no savings but added travel and response delays harming Brown and Clermont counties. Clarence Neu of Williamsburg campaigns against the move noting Greenfield is not central and wartime strains make the proposal ill advised.
Wet grounds postponed Cincinnati games last Sunday. The Batavia Speedliners will have a bye and will host Milford at Batavia School Diamond next Sunday. Milford brings a strong club aiming for its first win over the Speedliners.
