Salt Air Robbers Taken By Sheriff In 24 Hours

Sheriff Tom Brooks and deputies captured three armed youths within a day after the Salt Air grocery robbery on Friday night. Homer Hoskins 20 Cloyd Powell 14 and Carl Flashman 17 were taken Saturday evening. The trio wore masks during the hold up at Mrs Moffett’s store and threatened nearby witnesses. Police traced the Ford coupe license plates leading to rapid identification. About 60 to 80 dollars were taken from the cash drawer before the trio fled.

Burg Still Leads League in Tightened Clermont County Race

Williamsburg extended their win streak to four and stayed unbeaten after a 12 to 3 victory over the New Richmond Giants. Mt Crab beat Georgetown 5 to 2 at Georgetown, and Bethel shut out Edenton 8 to 0, keeping the pennant battle close.

Aid in Food-for-Victory drive calls for farm help in Ohio

Amid war effort push, Ohio Employment Service asks for volunteers to join a part time land army. Workers will assist haying, grain, fruit and vegetable picking, and other peak season tasks to ease farm labor shortages. Law Exams Open for Civil Service Commission

Applications are being accepted for the first competitive examination by the Board of Legal Examiners. The written test is scheduled countywide on September 26 with August 21 deadline to file in Washington. The register will cover legal positions from 1800 to 3200 dollars annually, based on experience and bar admission.

Clermont County Farmer Wins Victory Bull From Jersey Club

Clermont County farmer Cline Smith of R F D Cozaddale was notified last week as a winner among several local applicants for a Victory bull calf from the American Jersey Cattle Club. The bull, one of 1000 calves given this year, will join his future herd sire. The club aims to improve the breed and support the war effort by providing high breeding bulls. Smith received congratulations at the Jersey Cattle Club meeting held at Breezy Hill Farm in Indian Hill.

Clermont county hosts a Batavia Junk Rally August 24 to 28 with scrap and metals collected for a national metals drive. Volunteers pile junk outside homes to be picked up by Boy Scouts and gleaners as residents prepare for the event.
