Clermont County Schools Ready To Open September Fifth
The Clermont County School Board decided on August 15 to reopen schools on Tuesday September 5 with some districts allowed to start later. The county comprises nine first grade high schools and fifteen rural districts serving 4000 to 5000 pupils. Superintendent Frank Binetok Ashton expects no major teacher shortage though a few vacancies exist due to defense work and higher salaries elsewhere.

A brick carrier station near Summerside in construction will join the American Telegraph and Telephone Company network. The 23 foot square, windowless building will house stepping up equipment from Western Electric and be thermostat controlled. Prominent Clermont Farmer Dies of Heart Attack
William H. Davis, 65, East Fork Valley farmer, died of a heart attack early Saturday at his Round Bottom Road home near Milford. Funeral services were led Monday by Fev. C. Eugene Biffle at Monroe Funeral Home. He had recently suffered a broken collarbone in a wagon fall. Survived by daughter Mrs Milford Joslin of Westwood, son Herman Davis, and brother Geo. Davis, all of Round Bottom Road Milford.

Retired farmer crushed to death under log near Felicity
Guy Fee 62 a retired farmer and director of the Felicity Citizens Bank was crushed beneath a rolled log on his farm four miles west of Felicity He had gone to assist tenant Clyde Dansberry to cut the log near an embankment The log rolled over his chest and rested on him after he tripped and the accident occurred during a cross cutting project He was a member of the Grange Farm Bureau Masonic Lodge and related groups.
