Farmers and bankers in Clermont County discuss organizing the Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative Association to control crop consignments from farm to market. The plan aims to boost farmer profits by sidestepping speculators and keeping earnings with producers.
The Ohio pike from Olive Branch to Hamilton county line is closed for work, as is the pike from Stonelick to Owenaville. Traffic reroutes via Milford to Batavia through Stonelick toward Cincinnati, with heavy trucks impacting wear and travel conditions after last week’s rain.
County Board of Education candidates must submit petitions with 126 signatures, equal to one percent of the prior election total. Local board candidates face a 25 signature requirement.
In Clermont county the new mothers' pension law promises 85 dollars for one child and ten extra per child, but no money is provided to fund it. County commissioners face an 8 mill tax limit, requiring cuts to 18 funds to pay 48 mothers and 110 children on pensions, with total valuation near 27 million dollars.
In Miami township Henry Bergman Jr resigns as trustee to join the county board of commissioners on the third Monday to September. The permanent officers will be chosen at a meeting in Floral Hall, Boston fair, at 11 o'clock Thursday, August 18.
Mrs Ely's class of the M E Sunday School spent a pleasant day at the home of Mrs Henry Horg last Thursday. The dinner was abundant and contributed by the group. Mrs John Swing received a fine pocket book as a token of friendship before she and her family leave for Bethel after September 1 as county recorder.
The body of Enos Morgan of Marathon Ohio was returned home May 19 1921 and buried with honors May 21 1921 at Bloom Rose cemetery. He served in the Marine Service during World War I.
Heavy rain last week revived upland corn fields and helped pasture on lower lands. Dairy feeding ease followed as pastures revived. Potatoes now have a chance to recover after an early crop near failure. Overall the rain provided valuable service to farmers.
Columbus announces a delay in enforcing the headlight law requiring anti glare devices until September 16. The Highway Department advises local officials and begins public instruction on proper headlight focus as 99 of 100 headlights are reportedly out of focus.
The body of Frank Weaver who died in the war in France arrived in Batavia Saturday morning and was placed in a vault until Sunday afternoon when the funeral will be held at the M B E church in charge of the American Legion with Rev Burdsall officiating. The Legion military funeral will proceed to Union Cemetery. He is survived by two brothers.
The Norwood amateur baseball team relies on sixteen year old Jack Donovan Neville boy who has struck out 62 batters and allowed 11 hits in a three game series. He recorded 21 strikeouts in a single game last week with 2 hits allowed.
The Boston Fair showcases a crowded exhibition with school displays, pig and calf clubs, cattle and hog departments, and a horse show. Educators and scholars are drawn to the event as friends plan to attend and enjoy the day together.
A local discussion notes funds for the cemetery are short. Taxation and sale of lots are insufficient, so annual per‑lot assessments are proposed to fund upkeep, with unclaimed lots reverting to the cemetery trustees after heirs pass away. Deeds would include an assessment clause to secure funds.
Lafe Powell of Mulberry Ohio was knocked unconscious Friday when a rock truck broke through the Red Bird Hollow bridge on the road to Mt Carmel. The truck’s rear fell through the nearly 50 foot span as heavy rains are blamed for weakening the supports. Powell revived and continued his work.
Mrs Sarah Coleman aged nine died at her son Archie Coleman's Loveland home Friday morning. Funeral services were held Sunday morning at the late residence with Rev Hoffima of Columbus officiating. Interment followed at the I C C Fy cemetery in Owensville.

The Cramer and Griswold families, longtime county pioneers, held separate reunions at Woodland Park last Sunday with large attendances. A fine dinner was shared, and the park was praised as the best local venue for gatherings due to easy access and ample shade and facilities.
Rev John M Sailer of Dayton Ohio will conduct a mission at Holy Trinity Batavia and St Philomena Stonelick. The schedule lists daily services at Batavia and Stonelick through Aug 28 with multiple masses and evening sessions. Non Catholics are invited. questions may be placed in a box.
John O Dustin 19, a Dayton mechanical dentist, was shot through the abdomen and left thigh at Island Park dancing pavilion by a soldier from Wright Field. He was treated at Miami Valley Hospital after surgery by Drs Bann and Potts. Several soldiers were arrested. no identifications yet. The incident followed earlier trouble between soldiers and civilians. Dustin was an innocent bystander.
Three liquor cases appealed from Mayor Scott's Milford court were argued before Judge Joseph in common pleas court Monday claiming no jurisdiction. Murphy & Joseph and Prosecutor Britton for the anti saloon league, Cincinnati attorneys for defendants. Arguments lengthy. cases sent under advisement.
The Batavia Masonics lodge calls a meeting next Saturday night for the Master degree to be conferred on two candidates. Full attendance is desired and work will start on time.

Blanchester plans special arrangements for the dirt track championship races on Saturday August 27 at the Blanchester Fair Grounds. Indianapolis driver Frank Thomas leads eleven starters while Bill Hunt drives the Craig-Hunt Motor Company entry. The event pits Hunt against Doc Oldham of Columbus in a high speed duel that could draw crowds exceeding Eaton. Controversy swirls as Hunt accuses Oldham of tobacco spit during a pass, with officials set to review.
In police court J O Clark of Cincinnati was fined six dollars and costs for traveling at 35 mph on Floral Avenue. Clarence Dice of Carthage paid twenty dollars and costs for 40 mph on Maiits. Frank Hilton of Cincinnati faced 88 mph on Hopkins Avenue with a warning after his speedometer read 85. Richard Whiting of 2156 Slane Avenue was fined with costs pending on Bhierman avenue.
