McElroy Upholds Board Authority

Attorney General Mark McElroy ruled Clermont County health board can enforce license fees and penalties. Opinion issued Friday after a license fee violation hearing before County Judge Chris Rosenhoffer. Floyd Miller faced charges for failing to obtain permits at a service station with toilets and vending machines. defense argued health board penalties exceed legislative scope. The ruling states penalties in Section 3707.99 apply to health district rule violations.

Traffic Victim Buried Tuesday

Milford services were held for Luther Templeton Jr. 13 of Rt 3 Loveland after he died from injuries when struck by a car at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. State patrol said Marjorie Maurath 16 of Milford drove the car and was exonerated. Survived by parents Luther and Katherine Templeton a brother and four sisters and grandmother.

Williamsburg Couple Injured In Sunday Crash

A Williamsburg couple Roy Mays 24 and Eva Mays 22 were hurt Sunday when their car hit a parked vehicle and rammed the county sheriff's cruiser on Main St Batavia. They were taken to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital by Moore ambulance with multiple cuts and bruises. Deputy Sheriff Jake Laffleur said the crash damaged all three vehicles.

Clermont County OKs $7 Minimum for MGS Water System

The Clermont County Board of Commissioners voted Monday to set a $7 per month minimum rate for the Miami Goshen Stonelick Water System, overruling a $6 recommendation by Project Engineer Jack H Fuller. All three members condemned Fuller's suggestion and criticized publishing it in the county paper while scheduling a Friday meeting to finalize steps toward selling revenue bonds and awarding contracts for system construction.

Green Thumb Keeps Busy at 94 in Florida

Ellis St. Guynn, an elderly Clermont nurseryman with roots in Moscow and Glen Rose, remains active in retirement in Tampa at age 94. Born 1865 as the son of a nurseryman, he ran Glen Rose Nursery for 40 years and Camargo Nurseries in Miamiville, later focusing on landscaping. He has two sons in Mariemont and Mt. Washington and a daughter in Mt. Carmel, with wife Alice Musser formerly of Marietta.

Publisher Drowns In Ohio River

Daniel Denton 32 co publisher of Riverside Buyer shopping guide drowned after swimming with business partner Richard Monk. They swam from the Kentucky side toward Ohio shore near Pt Pleasant when Denton sank about 40 feet from shore. Denton helped form the Ohio Valley Theatre Guild and was its 1958 president. He directed several guild productions and worked with six Broadway productions.

New Record Set For Building Permits In July

County building inspector C. O. Mattox reports July set a monthly record with 346 permits issued. Of these, 295 were for new dwellings including 234 in Union township and 190 in the L. C. Homes subdivision. Batavia and other townships recorded smaller totals while villages with separate codes were not included. Fees totaled 5658 dollars.
