Tommie Jones of Williamsburg won Clermont’s Cutest Kiddie title at the Clermont County Fair. More than fifty children received votes. prize money totaling 54 dollars was distributed. Second through fifth places and a list of subsequent winners are identified with parentage and hometowns.
The Santa Monica Evening Outlook reports Californians fear a federal irrigation plan in Arizona costing about 1 838 per acre and over two billion dollars total while subsidies keep land already productive at risk. Earl Barnes of Mariemont, a veteran pilot and worm farmer, taught at Central Vocational High School and explored worms' soil benefits in Clermont County.
The Courier's subscription contest for correspondents has attracted attention in the county. The winner will receive a fully paid vacation to Washington D C and New York City with meetings in the cities and opportunities to see notable sites and shows. Hunting and trapping licenses become effective September 1 handled by 2 500 agents. A Clermont Historical article features a Paris postcard view on Champs Elysees as part of the series. Goshen Boosters 4-H Club members sweep three showmanship firsts at the Clermont County Fair in Owensville. Leroy Keiser wins swine, Robert Keiser earns beef, and Paul Moore takes dairy showmanship with Kroger cups awarded to dairy and beef winners. Second and third go to James Day and Glen Carrill of the Progressive Producers 4-H Club.
Batavia schools start Tuesday and Wednesday with half day registration and full day meals later. Faculty members will drive Batavia board buses, taking over routes from prior drivers. kindergarten begins September 10 with registration September 5 and 6. vaccination reminders for new pupils.
A veteran with service before World War II was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. The obituary notes his retirement and honors, while the accompanying article lists long-time faculty assignments and staff roles across several school departments and grades.
Marathon Grange captured first place for the third consecutive year with their exhibit at the county fair held last week.
