Clermont County Fair Adds New Attractions in 102nd Year
Clermont Countians attend the Fair this week with familiar displays of farm produce canned goods and livestock plus new features such as a horse pulling contest a tractor rodeo and an auto show. Secretary Joseph W. Evans notes strong interest in the pulling contest with trophies from Nixon Denton Cincinnati Times Star Ohio Oil Company and Buckeye Horse Pulling Associations. Racing runs daily at 2 15 p m and the horse show at 7 p m nightly. The grand parade is set for 11 a m Saturday.

The Clermont Cutest Kiddie Contest at Grange Hall proceeds rapidly with visitors voting for candidates, each penny per vote. Ely Wins Trophy in Cedarville Yacht Regatta
Rex Ely son of Mr and Mrs Forrest Ely won the Les Cheveaux Yacht Club sail boat race and trophy after three days of racing. He placed second in two heats and first in the finals securing the most points. Dr Steinmetz Commodore presented the trophy. Ely and Jack Edwards received a special trophy for sportsmanship and sailing improvement.

Young Man Dies in Route 125 Withamsville Crash
Jack Harvey 18 and Allen Harvey 22 of New Richmond were in a two vehicle crash on Route 125 in Withamsville early Sunday. Allen drove, the car skidded 194 feet, struck two trees, snapped a utility pole, and rested on an embankment at Williamsville School. Planes Forced Down Near Utopia Ohio and Kentucky
Two F-86 Sabre jets were forced down due to fuel shortage last Wednesday. One crashed in a corn field near Utopia, Ohio, while the other touched down across the river in Augusta, Kentucky. Lt. Boris W. Petcoff of Detroit suffered a severe back injury and was hospitalized in Maysville, Kentucky. The aircraft were from the Seventy first Fighter Interceptor Squadron based at Pittsburgh and were en route from Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery to Wright Field in Dayton.

A 300 acre Urban farm tract on State Route 14 near Batavia is proposed as the Clermont County Hospital site. The Clermont County Hospital Committee accepted the site contingent on full study of convenience and facilities. A study committee of four medical directors will draft recommendations, citing an Ohio Hospital Survey placing Clermont County high on need and outlining a 50 bed hospital on a 75 bed chassis cost not exceeding 750000, financed by bonds and modest levies.

County Man Says He Was Beaten And Robbed
George H. Franz of 6674 Salem Pike Mt. Washington told Clermont County Sheriff Clyde Dericks Saturday that he had been beaten robbed and left on the A P Highway near New Richmond early Saturday. Franz said he drove his wife to the Cincinnati bus terminal then stopped for a drink on Eastern Avenue the last he remembered was on Kellogg Avenue and he awoke on the A P Highway near the Cincinnati Gas and Electric power plant.

Driving Rights Of Youth Suspended In Clermont County
A 16 year old Cincinnati high school athlete had driving rights suspended until age 18 after arrest by Batavia patrolman W A Kalchek. Judge Orville Halbisch ordered suspension following charges of operating without a license driving without lights and reckless driving. The youth reportedly hit a one way bridge on Route 132 in Batavia then rammed the parked auto of Harry Beckler of Batavia injuring his wife and children.

Highway Patrol Seeks Recruits in Batavia Interviews Fridays
Cpl. C H Brown of the State Highway Patrol will interview applicants for Highway Patrolmen each Friday evening from 7 to 9 at the village building in Batavia. Requirements include 21 to 45 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 165 pounds, a high school education or equivalent, and five years residency in the state. Starting salary is 300 dollars per month. The force will be expanded by 250 to a total of 650 men.
