4-H Clubs Shine At Clermont County Fair Winners Earn State Trip
Fourty 4-H clubs in Clermont County showcased the county's largest ever fair exhibits, with over 600 displays across categories including clothing, vegetables, pigs, calves, sheep, poultry, flowers, and handicrafts. Winners of contests and health tests earned trips to the State Fair. Audrey Harris and Sue Spiedel led clothing and individual demonstrations. The parade and Goshen Boosters baseball game capped the event amid light showers.

Batavia Man Charged With Assault After Watch Dispute
James B. Scott, a sewler, reported an assault by John Carter of Batavia Saturday night. Carter fled after throwing a billiard ball and hitting Scott, who defended with a knife and revolver. Carter was caught later with his mother and Pete Hahn in Milford, and jailed on a suspended sentence for prior drunken driving.

Haworth Reunion Marks Sixth Annual Gathering in Ohio
The sixth Haworth Reunion met August 18 1983 at Alva Achor home New Vienna Ohio with 65 attendees. Honorary member Aunt Deliah Haworth age 92 enjoyed the dinner and program included recitations readings a speech and a string band. Next year’s reunion is set for the second Sunday in August at Stroup Picnic Ground Dodsonville Ohio.

Clermont County selects E B Baugh as new county agent succeeding H N Wilson and moving to Batavia with his wife and two children. Wilson will become field manager for 26 counties, and will relocate to Wilmington. Baugh is a former B&O Railroad employee and a Purdue graduate bringing experience. Residents regret losing Wilson but welcome the Baugh family locally.

Clermont county total public indebtedness began the year at 1 054 328 dollars and ended 1931 at 1 097 768 dollars a gain of 43 440 dollars in the effort to reduce debts. Captain Harold Hayes announces Clermont County Day at the Cincinnati Zoo on Friday August 25. About forty children from the Ohio Soldier and Sailors Orphans Home in Xenia will join the American Legion Auxiliary for a noon picnic and a day of activities including a food show animal visits a trained show and a Clermont County Band concert. Governor White cannot attend due to a legislative session. The event runs until 5 p.m. followed by a baseball game and advance ticket purchases are encouraged for group credit.
